There's no downside to this move whatsoever. Having a veteran available on the practice squad is great for this team. I think you'd much rather have him in there over Cam Lewis or a rookie in a key playoff game.

My guess is they'll use this time to ramp him up and he'll get a couple games towards the end of the season. Personally, their ceiling goes up with a fresh, healthy Micah Hyde over Damar Hamlin, who has played well enough but is still a weak link on the defense.

All in all, I can't think of one single downside to this signing and it was more than likely the plan all along.

Even if Hyde gets elevated, wonder if his role would be replacing Lewis as dime safety, not replacing Hamlin. But here's hoping he's just along for the ride to get his well-deserved ring (which means these assholes better make this run count).

I like bringing Hyde back. He's a depth piece at this point that doesn't need to be active on game day. Essentially stash him on the PS, get him up to speed, elevate him a few times in the last few games, and just have that reserve piece if the injury bug hits. He's a veteran voice that will be well respected by the guys there and can be, essentially, an extra coach on the sideline.

I think in the last few games we will see guys elevated off the PS and vets made inactive on a rotating basis to get guys some NFL games experience and to get a few guys rest as we gear up for January football.

No chance Hyde replaces Hamlin w/o an injury or shuffling somewhere. Y'all might be forgetting he looked like ass in the back half of last season. Hamlin's occasional gap misreads aside, you lose speed, physicality, and versatility. Great fortification signing but i'd prefer if he didn't have to play meaningful snaps in the playoffs

Safety is the one position I really don't have many complaints about. They make the tackles when they are called upon. Hamlin isn't the best in coverage, but he is a really good tackler. Rapp I feel, has been fantastic. I guess it doesn't hurt them to sign him.

He's got plenty of experience playing the Chiefs specifically in big games. Besides depth (and I agree, he's not cracking the starting lineup without an injury), he's probably just going to be an extra voice in the DB room with experience/insight. I'm happy to have him.

I don’t think that’s true of Hamlin at all. He’s been an enormous liability in run support.

Very happy to have Hyde in the mix. If he can come back and contribute, it addresses the one gaping weakness the team has.

Reading some of the replies, I think some of you are underselling what Hyde is being brought in for. I’d place my money on him being the starting FS in the playoffs. He plays our position of biggest need, played well when we last saw him (admittedly that was some time ago), and I doubt he comes out of retirement to be a depth stash. If he can get physically up to speed, he’s here to play.

Boy am I glad the Bills got Cooper instead of Diontae Johnson. Get the most "team-first" WR on the market instead of the least.

There are certain organizations that just don't get this and keep doing the same thing over and over again by going for the guys who clearly are miserable to be around if things aren't going their way.

The Jets want to turn things around? How about taking Rodgers and Adams after they whine their way off of their old teams and pair them with a young core.

The Dolphins want to finally beat the Bills? Lets sign OBJ because he's got cool YouTube clips and throw money at Jaylen Waddle when we already have a #1 WR and need to improve in the trenches.

The Cowboys and the Raiders do this shit too. It's wild how the teams who don't fall into this trap consistently beat the ones who do.

Buffalo tried to go out and get Antonio brown. So some of this is a bit of luck rather than a master class of GM work. Beane has been great, but he’s had his fair share of misses too.

AB most likely would have been successful and most likely happy ala Diggs. I do agree though, when the wheels would have fallen off, they would have fallen off hard.

After watching the Dawkins mic'd up video, I am getting his jersey. He'll likely be a Buffalo Bill for most of his career. Maybe all of it. Great tackles can age like a fine wine, and he's looking the part of a really good tackle to me.

He's also straight up hilarious:
'I was rolling around like a Teletubby'
C'mon man!

I'd love to get a beer with him and Allen. They'd have me belly laughing.
