There's no downside to this move whatsoever. Having a veteran available on the practice squad is great for this team. I think you'd much rather have him in there over Cam Lewis or a rookie in a key playoff game.

My guess is they'll use this time to ramp him up and he'll get a couple games towards the end of the season. Personally, their ceiling goes up with a fresh, healthy Micah Hyde over Damar Hamlin, who has played well enough but is still a weak link on the defense.

All in all, I can't think of one single downside to this signing and it was more than likely the plan all along.

Even if Hyde gets elevated, wonder if his role would be replacing Lewis as dime safety, not replacing Hamlin. But here's hoping he's just along for the ride to get his well-deserved ring (which means these assholes better make this run count).

I like bringing Hyde back. He's a depth piece at this point that doesn't need to be active on game day. Essentially stash him on the PS, get him up to speed, elevate him a few times in the last few games, and just have that reserve piece if the injury bug hits. He's a veteran voice that will be well respected by the guys there and can be, essentially, an extra coach on the sideline.

I think in the last few games we will see guys elevated off the PS and vets made inactive on a rotating basis to get guys some NFL games experience and to get a few guys rest as we gear up for January football.

No chance Hyde replaces Hamlin w/o an injury or shuffling somewhere. Y'all might be forgetting he looked like ass in the back half of last season. Hamlin's occasional gap misreads aside, you lose speed, physicality, and versatility. Great fortification signing but i'd prefer if he didn't have to play meaningful snaps in the playoffs

Safety is the one position I really don't have many complaints about. They make the tackles when they are called upon. Hamlin isn't the best in coverage, but he is a really good tackler. Rapp I feel, has been fantastic. I guess it doesn't hurt them to sign him.

He's got plenty of experience playing the Chiefs specifically in big games. Besides depth (and I agree, he's not cracking the starting lineup without an injury), he's probably just going to be an extra voice in the DB room with experience/insight. I'm happy to have him.

I don’t think that’s true of Hamlin at all. He’s been an enormous liability in run support.

Very happy to have Hyde in the mix. If he can come back and contribute, it addresses the one gaping weakness the team has.

Reading some of the replies, I think some of you are underselling what Hyde is being brought in for. I’d place my money on him being the starting FS in the playoffs. He plays our position of biggest need, played well when we last saw him (admittedly that was some time ago), and I doubt he comes out of retirement to be a depth stash. If he can get physically up to speed, he’s here to play.

Boy am I glad the Bills got Cooper instead of Diontae Johnson. Get the most "team-first" WR on the market instead of the least.

There are certain organizations that just don't get this and keep doing the same thing over and over again by going for the guys who clearly are miserable to be around if things aren't going their way.

The Jets want to turn things around? How about taking Rodgers and Adams after they whine their way off of their old teams and pair them with a young core.

The Dolphins want to finally beat the Bills? Lets sign OBJ because he's got cool YouTube clips and throw money at Jaylen Waddle when we already have a #1 WR and need to improve in the trenches.

The Cowboys and the Raiders do this shit too. It's wild how the teams who don't fall into this trap consistently beat the ones who do.

Buffalo tried to go out and get Antonio brown. So some of this is a bit of luck rather than a master class of GM work. Beane has been great, but he’s had his fair share of misses too.

AB most likely would have been successful and most likely happy ala Diggs. I do agree though, when the wheels would have fallen off, they would have fallen off hard.

After watching the Dawkins mic'd up video, I am getting his jersey. He'll likely be a Buffalo Bill for most of his career. Maybe all of it. Great tackles can age like a fine wine, and he's looking the part of a really good tackle to me.

He's also straight up hilarious:
'I was rolling around like a Teletubby'
C'mon man!

I'd love to get a beer with him and Allen. They'd have me belly laughing.

My guess is that it is for Virgil with Carter likely coming off of IR this week.

But, we shall see.
It's pretty clear now that SalC is the deflection guy for front office moves these days, although he's never seemed to have solid inside sources in the organization (like all the wgr guys for some reason, Jeremy had a sabres source during the Botts years) like JoeB, Bove, have on occasion. Not a huge criticism more an observation.

Hyde said he will likely come back as a coach next year. At the very least Hyde can help the current players now with taking better play angles, calling defenses, reading the play, filling gaps, making on field adjustments, and be a emergency option if there are injuries. 2019 Eric Weddle is a good comparison.

Maybe, just maybe, Brandon Beane has learned some stuff between then and now.

The Antonio Brown trade talk was one year before they traded for Diggs.

The Bills were lucky in that Cooper is a great culture fit and he was the best cap fit given that the Browns had converted as much of his 2024 base salary to a signing bonus before the season to make him as tradable from a cap perspective as possible.

apologies about long post

He ( Dion fookin Dawkins) is the is one of the reasons as is hyde that Josh is the way he is obviously Josh has surpassed both but Josh took and amplified parts of his own personality w the influence of Dawkins Hyde and many of the competitors around him .

milano and tre that were similar in Pure Will to Josh , also showed by example honorable dealings inside the building and w fans .

I'm sure I'm leaving out Morse and many others that allowed Josh room to be this strong and self aware but still an empathetic version of what we marvel at in buffalo land.

Hopefully we finally get to see Josh surpass the Daryl Lamonica legend w Cooper and Keon Finally together and dialed in ( like Hyde Milano and Benford Bernard finally over last couple games) ...

Both healthier Units .giving nightmares on film against LA and Detroit ( or showing our RUST) .

Seeing if we can win downfield and more quickly w D able to stop teams between the 30s ( after quick scores or 3& outs taking more chances) like 2020 to give all future opponent success on film different than the past controlled 12 games .

These two games are key to talented pass rush teana like Denver Pittsburgh and the Texans w addition of Watt .

The league knows we want to dominate downfield and these two road playoff encirinnenrs w one seed in play or not help us practice for Postseason.

I really think entire organization thinks these two games are very important tests and chess moves w film showing we have no weaknesses we are covering or less to exploit , IF we can execute

The amazing thing that should relax buffalo fans . look only on Football reference at Bills point differential as main stat aside from the many contributors as Knox not injured shows he's elite like Cooper and Shakir

The Buffalo Bills dominate with or without turnover advantage as as shown by four to five years lapping the NFL in POINT DIFFERENTIAL .

Compare to Kelly and elite D run from 89to 94 and Josh era Its truly amazing and We have not been healthy EVER , physically and mentally since Damar to Milano TRE , Hyde poyer etc etc since the LA Rams opening game which was well played by both teams A LONG time ago

granted it Will take these games to see IF We can hit hard and get Von Milano and Hyde back to form or not .

Either Way looking at point differentials we were able to maintain that dominance and ability to always compete w the rest of 53 players and PS that were vital to remaining competitive.

IF We do well out out west and Detroit the rest of this TEAM THAT helped us maintain McD Brady and Babich standard get the chance to ALL chase the one seed as a 60 plus man UNIT

QUITE Fun and we'll earned IF We play next two like an early playoff round

I think McD and group will .. and this team is bought in ( I hope the sabres who are equally talented take this example and bury Winnipeg and put all their b.s. behind them winning ugly like Bills running is harder to Fook w by cowardly powers that be)

stay humble and honorable buffalo , we're with you. truly a pleasure to watch BOTH when they play tough balls out and believe they can dominate .
