We continue the trend of gradually getting worse every season and replacing good players we groomed and developed with broken vets on the cheap who no contending team would put in their lineup.

Anyone who believes Marner, Matthews and Nylander will be the ones outworking anyone is smoking some good shit...They really needed to get rid of one of the big contracts and keep all the hard workers with SPEED(JT for example makes me not want to watch hockey ever again...combination of him being a not so good skater and the fact he has no brain(almost always make the wrong play), it's just brutal to watch. He's a guy that you need in front of the net to put pucks in(has a good shot)...11+ mil for that...Someone mentioned the other day but if this keeps going(i think it will only slightly get better), Dubas will be top 3 worst Leaf GM's..I agree with that.

For 11 million you would certainly hope that Marner and Matthews wouldn't be getting outworked. It's really clear that Marner and JT are simply not worth their contracts, like at all. Matthews I can get because he's usually good on D, is the league's 1st or second best goal scorer and is usually solid in the playoffs.

Honestly Hyman's absence is huge.

We've been fine without him for extended periods of time in the past when he was injured.

This is much bigger than Hyman. There is a team malaise settling in and it's getting worse by the game.

Just got home. Gonna watch the game even though they lost. Want to see how the team played period to period. From the box score it feels like they came to play period 1, got flustered when CAR ties it, then broke down when they scored the quick 2nd goal few mins later.
