While not passing judgement. I am now understanding why he fell in the draft. I think most projections had Wright going 1st or 2nd. Of the top ten picks from the 2022 draft only Savoie(ahl) and Marco Kasper (1st year in the league) have less pts than Wright. Wright is tied with Gauthier with the Ducks with 9 who is also in his first full year in the league.

Wright is only 20 years old. So there is a lot of time for him to come around. I look at how it took Alex Lafreniere and Kakko to turn the corner with the Rangers. Lafreniere is developing better than Kakko but both are better than their first two years in the league.

Not all players come into the league and and world beaters

Yup, some of these kids take a while to acclimatize. No sense getting impatient.

Guy 3rd in league scoring for a prospect struggling to stay in the lineup of a mediocre team. Seems like a fair value. Even more fair seems Paul Cotter and a 3rd. Would you take that?
Necas is criminally over achieving right now. Hes a glorified Shawn Matthias

Probably has to do with his obvious arrogance & entitlement.
This ^^^^
If Wright refuses to accept that his role in the nhl will not be as a top line scorer and more of a bottom six checker, then his career will be short. He’s young though, so still has time to accept the reality of who he really is as a player at the nhl level. He might need to bounce around a bit, but if he did commit to a bottom six checking role, then he could have a long and good career. He has the skills to be a very good 3C. It’s whether he can accept those skills are what he is.

20 years old(ish) is an interesting age. I matured like people wouldn't believe around that age. So did my son (followed the exact same path as me in that regard). Some people mature much earlier, some of us just aren't the same person at 21 that we were at 18.

Looking at photos from his junior days it looks like Wright physically matured at a young age, and certainly younger than the majority of his peers did. Mentally though he still has many years left to grow. I just wonder if he’s stuck in the past and believing how he dominated in junior is how he should be in the nhl?
