I agree with hayes -
Dion took a dumb penalty, and he didn't really "do" anything. he just hit him and Dion-smouldered at him. (and this goes back to what Babcock says that the ultimate thing was winning. let the clock/situation dictate your response). dumb penalty, powerplay goal, game over. take a number and pummel him later.

this isnt' taking away from his overall play - which has been good, but that was a selfish dumb dumb move.

100% agree. Dion has been pretty good this season, but that was a dumb move.

It was his first NHL game and he looked to be about as effective as Holland has been so far this year, I'd say that is a success.

DJ, Honestly I dont think anyone is missing Gunnar. But just pointing out the fact that Nonis traded for a worse player and even threw in a pick to boot.

honestly, though. i don't know if he's "worse" (he's not good right now).
but he was being courted for a 2nd. (which we should have taken, but hey , whatever, Nonis is dumb).


and that's all we need. hopefully in a few games he shakes it off, and just plays well enough for us to trade him for a pick no worries.

You are right but any player, especially a guy who has been around as long as Dion, should know the refs are watching for retaliation after a guy takes a solid hit like that. It was a bush league play from Dion and nowhere near what should be expected from any player let alone a captain.

I mean if Polak to Columbus isn't a near perfect fit then I'm not sure what is. Jarmo + JD from St. Louis, and we know Torts likes a big D-man that can block stuff. But a lot of these new guys who we have brought in to dangle at the deadline for picks like Arcobello, PAP, Mattthias even Boyes now are turning out to be no better than Panik or Frattin. So I'm not expecting a massive haul from that group when we do move them.

Froese actually looked better than most of them and he was in his 1st game.

Its not the first time that he has thrown a hissy fit. Needs to toughen up and continue on with the play. Embarrassing to keep seeing him pull that stuff.

Yup!!!!!

The little hack & facewash stuff does nothing, makes you look foolish & the ref has to call it. If you want to do something blatant in front of the ref, make it worth it. If not take his number & payback, next shift, next period, next game, next year.
