We have the best strength of schedule for remaining games

All NHL team are good enough to beat you any night of the week. Fear the "got nothin to lose" opponent down the stretch

That's not the point. The point is we have a favorable schedule. If you could either play 7 non-playoff teams or a 7 game stretch consisting of say TOR,PHI,FLA,NYR,MON,PIT,NYR (devils schedule) you would obviously take our schedule every time. Of course any team is capable of beating another team - it's just less likely to lose to the teams we play than if we had a tougher schedule

There is certainly an argument to be made that playing teams safely at the top is better in a situation like this. I do not like this team's tendency to play down to their opponent, but they really have no excuse not to reel off a bunch of wins to end the season. Missing the playoffs at this point would require a gigantic choke job.

Yes, so there's no excuses for this team not to make the playoffs, not that there were any excuses in the first place.

The Islanders have to secure their future on the road; the Devils and Sabres have a tough group of games, but the Jets have a soft South East finish too. This doesn't mean that the Rangers and Jets will finish 7/8 and the other three are going to drop their last 6 games, but you can't pretend that playing division rival basement dwellers and a trip to the South East isn't extremely preferable to playing the divisional champs and the Northeast.

Whether its preferable or not isn't the issue. They have to win the games and not let down which this franchise is prone to do in spades.

Didn't they lose two games to Atlanta late one year to prevent them from getting in the playoffs?

This team is famous for playing down to the level of their opponents. I actually like that they play the Flyers and Devils because I would "hope" they bring some emotion to those games.

I don't know how any Ranger fan can think the upcoming schedule is easy.

Playing below average teams ,if anything, makes it harder for the Rangers. When have we ever beat up on bad teams?

Giving the Rangers a home stretch of bottom feeders and division rivals barely clinging on to playoff hope is the absolute worst possible outcome. The only thing that could make the scenario worse is if all of those teams also had the following:

A former Ranger.
A call-up first time NHLer or someone who hasn't scored since the term dinosaur was only used to describe carnivorous reptiles instead of something old.
A back-up goalie on a 20 game L streak or rookie goalie.
An injured list longer than their active roster.

Nothing is easy. Welcome to Rangers hockey.

If we miss the playoffs with this weak schedule, torts deserves to get canned. The only challenge should be the devils if kovy is back.

We need 11 to clinch.

I'd feel comfortable with 4-2-1

If be comfortable with 3-3-1, I just don't see winnipeg making a run. If Ottawa loses in Boston tonight, we also have a solid chance at the 6 seed.

I don't buy it.

Rangers - Flyers / & 2 games against the Devils are rivalry games. Debbies/Flyers are not laying down for us.

Buffalo are playing very well at the moment.

Panthers beat us last time and we have two games against them.

That leaves the Hurricanes. Who knows with them.
