This isn’t really fair to Dvorsky at the moment given that he’s a year behind and it’s kinda hard to ignore that Kasper is basically not looking out of place on a real NHL first line recently.

So Kasper for sure…right now. Dvorsky may have a similar impact next year. Great rookie AHL season for a teenager.

Comparing a current NHLer that has been producing at a roughly 60 point pace since being promoted to the 1st line, at 20 years old, to a guy who is currently in the AHL at 19, doesn't even seem fair to Dvorsky.

Short of an elite/generational prospect, you've gotta go with the guy proving it now.

But I'm sure there's some geniuses who haven't been paying attention and will still scream about Kasper's limited offensive upside.

I'm just posting this because Wheeler had Dvorsky at #22 and Kasper at #31, and I thought that was weird.

“Producing at a 60 point pace”

Just say the dude has 13 points in his last 18 games

This should be Danielson vs Dvorsky.

Same draft class. Both in the AHL.
Because Dvorsky is almost a full year younger and producing at a better rate than Danielson. Produced better the year before too and has a great international resume. Kapser vs Dvorsky is heck of a lot closer than Danielson vs Dvorsky.

Danielson is producing at pretty much the same rate that Kasper did last year lol.

I don't think this is very close at this moment. Dvorsky's main concern was his ability to play his game against men, and he has completely obliterated that concern this year. He has all the tools (and had them since the draft) to be a 2-way 60-70pt 1B/2A centre in the NHL, and he's trending very well to achieve it.

Danielson's also got the tools to be a great defensive 2C, but he's currently not showing enough offensive upside to be trending in that direction. Not to mention that Dvorsky is an entire year younger than Danielson. These 2 guys have gone in opposite directions this past year and I don't think if you made this poll you would have a single non-Detroit fan voting for Danielson.

This is obviously an unfair comparison given the fact that Dvorsky is 14 months younger. If you compare Kasper's 19 year old season to Dvorsky's current 19 year old season, Dvorsky would blow him out of the water. Kasper is on pace for 31 points this year in the NHL as a 20 year old, which is definitely solid, but acting as if he's clearly a better prospect because of that is odd. If next year Dvorsky cannot stay in the NHL and put up 30 points, then a conversation can be had, but as it stands, Dvorsky has been much better than Kasper when comparing them at the same age.

A more fair comparison would obviously be Danielson Vs. Dvorsky. They were taken 9th and 10th overall in the same draft. As others have mentioned however, this would not really be an interesting conversation as Dvorsky has clearly progressed better as a prospect, especially considering he is actually ~9 months younger than Danielson.
