Skinner even skating to the bench ambling along to get the extra attacker out. I think he got winded doing that. "Please don't make me do this twice" The most he's skated in weeks probably.

Right hey?!? He looked like he was skating with a 2 x 4 shoved up his ass.

The way we skated with our legs.
Wow
Man is a poet

Yeah, that skating with your hands really sucks so it’s been quite an improvement.

Skinner is a backup being asked to do more than he is capable of. He's nowhere georgiev bad, he's just in way, way over his head. Plenty of teams would take him in a heartbeat.
I don't know if we can really say that Skinner is better than Georgiev. Georgiev can be great for stretches too. His stats atm are horrible, but he's on a horrible team. For most of the season, the Oilers have had amazing defensive numbers, and imo that propped up Skinner a lot. During that whole time Skinner's stats were below .900 until the very end of the stretch before this recent collapse. A good goalie would have .910-.920. And the advanced stats have been posted here and they back that up

What we are seeing from Skinner right now is who he really is, without the team in front clicking and limiting chances against. He's an .880 goalie who lucked out by being on a contender

I can’t believe this is a real quote.

He can go back to his f***ing California Closet and shove that hipster hat he wears straight up his f***ing ass.
He's a grade A dope. An idiot. He actually thinks he's playing well. Doesn't help that the broadcasters and pressers love him and hand him softballs all day.

I'd lose it on this guy as well. Nothing would ever be his fault. He just doesn't even have expectations for his performance. If you had an ebug goalie who was a bus driver you'd expect better athleticism and dedication to craft. I've never seen an NHL #1 look so much a beer leaguer. All he has going is his size. Covers so much of the net just standing there like a dope.

I’d have more respect if he at least acknowledged that he’s been f***ing garbage and that he knows it’s his fault for the team losing but nahhhhh, moustache feels too good about his game and is currently on the plane reading books and listening to podcasts. f***ing clown.

Skinner would seem to be the perfect #1 for a team seriously looking at lotto balls. Can't think any other reason anybody would want him. Imagine a #1 goalie on a top 8NHL team and he only has a .500 record. He's not much. On a bad team he'd have the club cratering to last place.

At the end of the day, he’s a back up goalie who was learning the league and got gang pressed into the starters role because we signed a guy on a 5 x 5 with no mental resiliency and wore equipment from the 1950’s.

He should be our back up, but the idiots running the show here are blind to his bad performances and only remember his good ones, then fall back on the he got us to game seven bullshit.

This organization hasn’t valued goaltending drafting and development for three decades now. They think they can always just trade for one or sign one. Christ for years we didn’t even have a minor league team to develop our own goaltenders.

Goaltending has been an afterthought in this market with this organization for so long that it’s completely inbred now.

The fact that Dustin Schwartz still has a job is a testament to that line of thinking.

I mean berating yourself isn’t good. But I have heard him say before he suffers from mental health issues. But then he spouts sunshine and butterflies when he’s playing poorly. I don’t think not being honest with yourself helps in any event.

Yeah its a pretty clear coping mechanism or self-validation. Pretty standard psychotherapy techniques.

But the team needs to stop making him available for post-game interviews, especially after losses. This isn't helping and has turned (along with his terrible play) the fans against him.

I mean it's not like he's a government official, the team has no duty of transparency to us.

True, I was trying to start positive 🤣🤣🤣

I thought I despised some of our goalies before until Skinjob came along. That he's smarmy and figures he's gods gift to the team just puts it over the top.

No wonder I took a month off lol.

I am still very positive about the team btw. Even now, I think we could use upgrades in lots of spots but the only weakness is in net. That one weakness can kill your cup chances

However the positive there is that this ultra critical position can be repaired with a single trade. It's not like repairing the offense or defense where it's lots of players and lots of factors involved, and chemistry factors. With goaltending it's just one guy all 60 minutes, and there's no chemistry concerns. They're just stat machines

Damning with faint praise. Its interesting that tonight was Skinner ain't terrible night and yet still beat by 6 pucks. Got beat clean several times. Saved by a goal called back and a post that had room. Also by Panthers missing on several other scoring chances. This is a night where Tkachuk wasn't even in lineup and Barkov looked to be nullifying every rush with offsides. Barkov was good defensively tonight, so were the Panthers.

In anycase its indelibly clear we need a goalie. Really just not seeing Skinner as our 1 would be easier on my eyes. So sick of him.

If it's this clear to us - imagine how clear it is to the guys that play in front of him night in and night out.

I've posted the stats a few times lately, but basically every time a bad goaltender gets replaced, teams improve not just in net, but offensively and defensively as well. Often by 0.5 expected goals both directions, give or take 25%.

The Avs earlier this year improved both offensively and defensively by about 0.7 xGoals per game, for example.

Good to see you by the way, how have you been?
