We Have A Gm Problem

And btw, I hope you have the same energy come draft day when players get drafted who others don't agree with are called busts like last year.

What's good for the goose.....

I agree.

Sharp was Tallons Rizzo trade. Davidson has done nothing similar and from the looks of it wont unless he's the one giving up the Rizzo which, quite honestly, he doesn't have any more.

Teams are more then willing to give up draft picks and the teams that aren't are in the same boat as the Hawks.

Davidson gave away a 90 pt first line player for scraps while the lightning GM laughed and im sure other GM's laughed along with him.

Davidsons on his second head coach. Now that they finally got a cable deal and this slop team will be more visible I think Davidsons tenure as a GM is on thinner ice then many wish to believe and that's a good thing.
ok I am all aboard the KD isnt the right GM guy but this isn't accurate. Brandon Hagel never topped more than 40 pts for Blackhawks and didnt hit 90 pts until 3 yrs after the trade. Hindsite yes that trade sucks but it also allowed us to be bad enough to get Bedard.

I'll reiterate what I've already previously said in this thread.

This is a thread titled "We Have a GM Problem". The conversations within it were never going to be top notch to begin with.

And so if it gets a little off topic at points, who gives a shit? If any thread gets off topic a bit, who gives a shit? That's what happens literally every off season here. Deputy Whatshisname might not realize that given he's only been here for a few months, but the rest of you know what it's like here.

Stop pretending that some posters engaging with, ummm, less serious posters is taking away from any real solid discussions. Those solid discussions hardly exist during these summer months, especially when the thread starts off with a bang by saying that we have a GM problem.

it's poor talent evaluation considering Hagel was 23 and a 20 goal scorer at the time. Two draft picks and two players who aren't even here any more isn't wasn't enough then and most certainly isn't now.

Hawks would have been just as bad if the Hagel trade never happened.

I've been around and reading these boards for nearly 20 years at this point... KBIB, JFIB, PCA, whatever his username has been, he's always been a troll. Literally a decade of bat faith stirring the pot BS.

But not my forum and not my rules. Would be nice to see more people understand that and stop taking the bait.

Also talk about a bizarre excuse to say the trolling is ok because it's the off season and the tread title. Very odd.

Hawk's finished 1pt better (better for tanking, worse for standings) than San Jose in 2023. If Hagel is as good as you make him out to be, he would've gotten the Hawks more than that in the standings. Thus, it would've affected our chances at Bedard.

This entire board isn't just going to put a poster on ignore and pretend he's not here. That's not going to happen even if you think it makes sense.

I personally think it's better to call out awful takes instead of letting the narrative fester. Works better if the poster doesn't triple down, but at least we have solid counter-arguments to the shit.

I also did not say that trolling is okay during the off season. It's not okay at any point. But this board frequently goes off the rails during the summer months. You should know this if you've kept up with this site for decades. So don't get pissy it's happening, it's a long ways away from opening night and slight topic derails are going to be the norm until then.

there is a whole thread on the hagel trade question where i'm pretty sure this exact conversation was already hashed out (and not even for the first time). i've also said before i don't think it makes much sense to credit drafting bedard to the hagel trade. what hagel would have been had he stayed in chicago and what moore and boisvert might be in the future are undetermined.

if you twisted my arm i might even go as far as to say i'd rather have the debrincat trade back before i'd go back on the hagel trade. very good chance you lose him to free agency by this point though.

Big deal.

As good as Hagel is he wasn't turning that tire fire into a playoff contender.
My previous post was a little confusing wording wise, that is actually on me, so I'll try again.

The Hawks finished 2nd worst in 2023, granting them the 2nd best odds in the draft. Sharks finished 3rd worst, with a single point separating each team.

If Hagel was on the 22-23 roster, the Hawks would have assuredly gotten at least one more point in the standings. Which would have given the Sharks the 2nd best odds at Bedard. Meaning we likely would've drafted where San Jose did that season, which would've netted us the white Will Smith.

Hawks got, from your own accord, a currently "average" top line center due in large part to trading away guys like Hagel and DeBrincat when they did.
