We are still rebuilding, after all

Carey Price needs a good defence in front of him for this team to win.
Right now he does not have that.

I should remind people that the team was actually good with Emelin in the lineup. His loss is bigger than most people think.

Why this sudden implosion?

Seriously. Right after clinching a playoff spot, they just collectively decide to forget how to play?

Anyone stop and think this is a slump every team goes through at some point in the season, but it just happens to be 'right now' for Montreal and therefore magnified? They only had a 3 game losing streak this season, very little controversy or anything to really battle through.

This is usually a January event, but its here now. You learn just as much from losing, as you do winning, so its gut-check time. Lets see what the team is made of in the next 3, and take it from there.

A rebuilding team usually gets a top 10 round pick.
This season is quickly becoming a Leafs style clusterf**k train wreck.:shakehead

I could deal with a slump, well I think I'm dealing with it quite nicely. But if the games hadn't been so lop-sided I wouldn't be so concerned.

No one is stepping up and being a leader. Yes, Pricey is struggling, yes, the offence is struggling and yes, the defence is playing terrible but someone on this team has to step up and be a leader. Someone mentioned they aren't playing their system, I totally agree with that. They have become puck chasers, the hitting has stopped and they fail to go to the dirty areas. Pointing fingers on one area is nonsense when we are struggling in all areas.

Yeah. if we're going to get smoked in 4 games in the playoffs, we shoulda tanked and grabbed Seth Jones, Drouin or MacKinnon. JEEZ.

honestly, id rather them collapse right after clinching then if it had happened earlier. it just shows that its a mental thing after their declared objective was met. im sure they'll tune it up for the playoffs once regular season ends

No! To win the Stanley Cup you have to make the playoffs.

We're in!!!!

Do you seriously believe we will win a round of the playoffs with a leaky goalie, a soft D and no sniper up front.

I won't even talk team toughness.

We could be seriously embarrassed in the playoffs if we keep playing like this.

No more days off... Roll film on what they were doing WELL this season... Keep them positive.

1) Clinching the playoffs
2) Losing Emelin
3) New equipment/slumping Price

A combination of multiple factors has lead to our slumping and lazy play as of late. It's no coincidence that this happened now.

Just wait until the playoffs and we will see what this team is really made of.

Absolutely, its becoming a lost season. And we have to blame Carey Price since the collapse started and now continues with his awful play.

It's a little more worrisome because we only have three games left to sort this out. Thankfully New Jersey is our next game and tonight aside they've had a real struggle scoring goals. Could be a perfect game to get Price his confidence back and hopefully some defensive chemistry. Which means Budaj will probably start.

I'd let Budaj start the last game of the season vs Leafs and give Price the next 2.

Teams have slumps, but usually it doesn't involve routinely getting blown out or hemorrhaging goals or the goaltender letting in the first 2 shots of the game.

This is just uncanny.
