We are still rebuilding, after all

this all comes down to 2 main issue that i do believe will be gone come play off time.. EFFORT and GIVING A ****! and they clearly aren't giving either right now.. and havent since they clinched.. there is only the young kids still trying their hardest but every one else is just letting off the gas BIG TIME.

take price for instance.. look how slow hes moving and getting back up and reacting. hes not focused on the game and seem like he doesnt care right now.. hes still got all that talent but hes not giving the second thrid or fourth efforts that he normaly does .. come play offs i think he will be kicking into high gear rested and ready to go.

you look at all the players they are making a bare mininal effort just getting through these last games and thats it ... now some guys have just been bad all year but for those who are just suddenly not working hard... i think they too are just riding it out till the really show starts.

and like every body says it really doesnt matter where we finish in the standings once play off starts its a whole new beast.. they boys know it .. the coaches know it.. i find after watching every game this year that it is very apparent in these last 5 that they will to go all out is not there and frankly in the big picture it doesnt really matter...

yes this was pissing me off and making me crazy too .. but i've decieded to trust my teams decision and join their new philosophy of taking it easy until the play off start... cause man i am gonna need to be well rested to be ablet to handle all the stress of the first round .. never mind the 2nd or 3rd if we get there lol

edit: another point of interest that this might be some sort of plan is that they only line that is working their ***** off and scoring is being sat for most of these games... funny how that works.. if the plan was to win you would figure they would be playing the guys who are scoring a lot more... hmmm..

honestly, id rather them collapse right after clinching then if it had happened earlier. it just shows that its a mental thing after their declared objective was met. im sure they'll tune it up for the playoffs once regular season ends

if they did lose intensity because of it, i dont like that making the playoffs was the objective when there was potential for so much more.

It's a little more worrisome because we only have three games left to sort this out. Thankfully New Jersey is our next game and tonight aside they've had a real struggle scoring goals. Could be a perfect game to get Price his confidence back and hopefully some defensive chemistry. Which means Budaj will probably start.

I'd let Budaj start the last game of the season vs Leafs and give Price the next 2.

Price HAS to start against the Leafs. There is no Budaj option. He needs a chance at redemption after the last game.

Do you seriously believe we will win a round of the playoffs with a leaky goalie, a soft D and no sniper up front.

I won't even talk team toughness.

We could be seriously embarrassed in the playoffs if we keep playing like this.

No more days off... Roll film on what they were doing WELL this season... Keep them positive.

Yep :p:

Teams have slumps, but usually it doesn't involve routinely getting blown out or hemorrhaging goals or the goaltender letting in the first 2 shots of the game.

This is just uncanny.

Agreed, the massive goal differential is definitely not indicative of a typical slump. But still, the timing is no coincidence in my opinion. At least I hope not.

Carey Price needs a good defence in front of him for this team to win.
Right now he does not have that.

[insert any goalie] needs a good defence in front of him for his team to win.

REALLLLY interesting statistic brought up by Mario Tremblay on antichambre.... I've been saying it for a long time, but he said that in the beginning of the season we gave up on average 6-7 scoring chances per game... In the last stretch, we've Been giving up on average 20!

Blame the goalie all you want, but after a while, you just can't keep giving up that many scoring chances on a regular game to game basis.

Why do we have english and french questions? It's the same canned answer just repeated even if the questions are completely different.

Gorges said we're soft? ...or soff? Big difference in the MT lexicon. Also, gorges speaking out again. Can someone punch him in the face next time?

I guess we have overachieved and that we are not as good as the standings show

This is not a bad thing; MB is still in his first season as Habs GM, we are young well get better

My thoughts exactly. I think we let our expectations get ahead of where they should be. There are still lots of pieces to be put into place... our defense is too small, too slow and to soft. Could use a little more muscle up front too.

"I'm disappointing about every aspect of the game"

-Michel Therrien

Not mocking him, just thought it was funny

I'm mostly being facetious. We won't be anywhere near this bad in the playoffs, especially against the Leafs. One has to think that series alone would wake them up.

Sorry, I can never tell what posters' attitudes are like when online. I should hang out here more often!

But I definitely agree with you, this can't be just a simple coincidence. Like I said, too many factors have gone into this slump at the same time. The blowouts are definitely no confidence booster though, and I understand why some people are worried.

We just have to remind ourselves that it has only been 5 games. If this continues for our last couple games, it will be worrying, but it still isn't the playoffs.

Carbo is right! Price now has a .905 save percentage which is now 33rd in the league and a 2.59 GAA which is 28th in the league. And the guy is making elite money, 6.5 million $ per year.

Does anyone know if the team has had any closed door heart to heart meetings? Seems like now would be a good time to hold one.
