Tell that to Adam Oates.
For the last 20 games or the first 20.
Tell that to Adam Oates.
With the team in front of him, is he to blame?
Sorry, I can never tell what posters' attitudes are like when online. I should hang out here more often!
But I definitely agree with you, this can't be just a simple coincidence. Like I said, too many factors have gone into this slump at the same time. The blowouts are definitely no confidence booster though, and I understand why some people are worried.
We just have to remind ourselves that it has only been 5 games. If this continues for our last couple games, it will be worrying, but it still isn't the playoffs.
No worries. That post was a bit reactionary after this game anyway. Sometimes a good way to vent the frustration is with some hyperbole.
Anywho, I think we have run out of gas to a certain extent. This was a team that had vastly overachieved and dealt with very little adversary until now. When everything goes right for so long, you tend be a bit shell-shocked that suddenly it isn't. Now they need to find a new gear, make some adjustments and stop lamenting these disastrous games. Just a theory, but everyone seems to be overthinking their plays, as though they anticipate a mistake. That said, Therrien needs to acknowledge the opposition focusing on our best players. They know Patches and DD aren't doing anything, thus ignore them, apply some physical pressure and we fold.
Both the lines and team mentality need a good kick to right this ship. Personally, I'd wash my hands of these games and go with a new look.
Bourque - Plekanec - Ryder
Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Prust - Eller - Gionta
Moen - Halpern - Desharnais
Shift Desharnais around a bit depending on his play. I'd also consider Eller moving up and DD taking his spot on the third.
Markov - Diaz
Weber - Subban
Gorges - Bouillon
I'd prefer to call up Tinodri or Beaulieu and have them play with Subban, while Bouillon sits out. Sadly, I doubt they get called up.

Man i'm freakin sick of all the excuses people make to defend Price. Fact is he has been average this year with some good games and some horrible games. We have played bad defense for sure but still he couldn't make the big save to bail us out plus he took really weak goals.
Just look at Reimer 50 shots on him yet still he stop 49 of them and they win it. He stole it for them.
Numbers don't tell the hole truth but it's alarming to say the least because those numbers on a 2nd place team are bad.
They are no middle ground here if you say Price has sucked then you are a Price hater, if you say it's not Price's fault but the d you are a Price fanboy.
Let's face it he has been average this year, solid in some games but he never stole a game where we were completely outshot and outchanced, he couldn't close it up and had to give up the goal, just like against the flyers when we were up by one with 4 minutes left. He was good but he couldn't steal it for us and that's what i don't like about him.
A lot of you should go see the thread on the main board about Price, everybody recognizes his talent, but a majority also say his numbers are not elite, and his lacks consistency in his game.
Our d has been bad in the last few games but Price couldn't make a save to keep us in and allowed early goals that putted us in a hole. That's the truth.
If that makes me a Price hater so be it. The guy is good but not elite he still has some improvement to do before he is worth 6.5 mil.
I can only really think of one team that actually pulled that off successfully: the 1993 Habs squad...
He's a great goalie and he steals games for us all the time. That being said, he's been brutal over the last 5 or 6 games. His teammates haven't helped him out at all but your best players have to play their best when you go through bad times and Price has to step up for us.Funny... I could have sworn at least two or three post game threads along the lines of (sarcastically) " price doesn't steal games, or " price doesn't make the big saves" ....
Oh how fast we forget..... He has kept us in numerous games this season, and in multiple games, if it wasn't for him we would have lost... That's called stealing a game.... Doesn't mean he needs to get a shutout in a game where were outshot 50-15. Some of you are ridiculous... If you want to say he's played bad the past few games fine, but to say he hasn't "stolen" a game either makes me think you have amnesia or have an unrealistic definition of the word

I still have faith in him, still think he's great, still believe in him for the future... but he needs to turn this around and fast. If we lose in the first round that's one thing but to get blown out would absolutley suck.
No doubt the D needs to play better. But Price has to play better too. Apart from the TO game the goals haven't been soft but he's got to be better...Well I don't expect price to turn things around until the team turns it around. When we start playing better team defense, that's when price will return to form. Until then we're gonna continue free falling, the coaching staff is on the hot seat considering how bad they're playing right now and how well they were playing a couple of weeks ago, black and white.
Why can't the defensive assistant be fired and MB take that role for the next 7+ games? Or MB would just suck as an assistant coach?

Can people stop defending Price??? Like i was always defending him but now it's obvious that the defense is not the only reason we are sucking right now. Where was the Carey from the early season when he was making clutch saves? Since the game against Pitts when it finished like 7-6, Carey has been really bad. Like i don't know if he's injured or mentally not there, but it's obvious something is wrong. I hope he gets his **** together because we gonna need him in the playoffs.
Pretty dickish of Oates to put first PP unit on with 30 seconds left in a 5-1 game.
