As someone who watched their grandmother starve to death from stomach cancer, and their grandfather die from multiple tumors his drunk of a doctor didn't bother looking for when he complained about pain for months, I don't find cancer in an of itself particularly funny topic, no. But I understand that people use humour as a coping mechanism, I have used that coping mechanism in the past and will in the future, and I won't sit here and say that when Grandma was hallucinating about ham and pineapple sandwiches floating around her hospital room, my family didn't find some humour in that to help us manage what an awful time it was for everyone as she spent her last days in a morphine haze. But I wouldn't think it's appropriate to make jokes about someone else having cancer. Do you understand the difference there?

Comedy is, at its most basic, a subjective thing. What one person finds funny, another may find offensive or inappropriate. And that's fine. It's OK man. Not everyone agrees with you. Comedians understand that is the line they walk every time they tell a joke that may be offensive.

Anyways, you've completely derailed this thread trying to justify a joke you didn't make that some people found inappropriate. If you have an opinion on whether our season is absolutely finished or not, that's great! Lets chat about it. But I won't spend my day going back and forth with you about what is and isn't funny. You've said your piece, I've heard you out, and we can leave it at that because this isn't the Comedy Forum Boards.

Ok, so we can't blame injuries, but the injuries piled up for 5 of the loses in those stretches.

So, when you isolate those same stretches before the injuries to Norris and Pinto happened,

10-3-2, a 120 pts pace
11-7-2, a 98 pts pace.

Pretty mediocre results, right?

So yeah. I think you can look at injures as the main culprit, I mean, that seemed pretty obvious before bothering to write out those numbers, but here we are.

First 29 games this year: 14-13-2 (85 pt pace)
Second 29 games this year: 15-12-2 (90 pt pace)

Like I said, you can isolate stretches of good play. But they always follow it up with a stretch of poor play that brings them back to mediocrity. There's no real reason to believe they'll hold it together for 25 games and play at a 98 or 100 pt pace for that long.

People have said that the second half of the season has been great, but when you look at it, it's barely been at the WC pace. So yeah they're still thoroughly mediocre and this 4 game losing streak may have done them in.

And every team deals with injuries. Most don't completely fall apart when a few guys get hurt. If you're waiting for this to be 25 game stretch where everyone is 100% healthy.... I don't know what to tell you...

We're an average team with multiple key players who have major durability issues and don't have any cap space or assets to bring in reinforcements. We can't even make call-ups, and even if we could, our call-ups are plugs. It's not a recipe for sustained success.

That's an honest assessment.

Hey look, tomorrow its March and they are playing meaningful hockey. In a strange way this makes me optimistic as meaningful games in March was my start of year prediction.

Inspite of the the losing streak I think they will still be in the playoff hunt 30 days from now. In a small way that still makes the season worthwhile.

They can play exceptional at the golf course where you and the other cheerleaders can continue to support them despite results.

It’s like continuing to pump up a leaking tire expecting it to hold under pressure and calling everyone a suckhole when the duct tape doesn’t hold.

But yeah let’s kick off the fans who don’t agree with me so we can live in an echo chamber who celebrates 9th place after a 7 year rebuild as some type of achievement. Fantastic idea.

I don’t think they are a leaky tire - I think you are a dude that goes to a massive wedding buffet but you only focus on the one dish you don’t like, instead of all the other yummy food you could celebrate

Echo chamber - what echo chamber?? Mostly what I see about the Sens is fans like you jumping ship and surrender like the French army before the fight is over.

Stay optimistic, these players and coaches at least deserve that
