Like say the extra pass only gets to the shooter 1/4 of the time. But that 1/4 of the time leads to a goal half the time. That's a 12.5% chance of a goal. I'll take those odds versus a shot against a good squared up goalie.

It looks bad when they don't get a shot, but remember any shot that doesn't score is a failure!

Sure but what if the extra pass is only getting through 1/6th of the time, and when it does get through it's not a tape to tape pass anymore so less open net. Now you've dropped below league average shooting percentage.
