Tripp saying Svech's game has fallen off...lordy. Couldn't tell if he was blaming it on his current line or what.

Necas was off his game little tonight. Looked a little unsteady at times.

Tripp has gone insane without someone to call him out on his nonsense. To say that about Svech and then applaud Hamilton's recent play is baffling.

Oh C'mon Ned is fine.
Us Canes fans have a longstanding habit of crucifying our netminders for losses. Many times there is credence to that stance, but often times not. Ned held his own out there and did an admirable job between the posts tonight. We needed more goals tonight to get the 2 points and we failed. Team loss. We got a charity point for not sucking too bad.

I don’t think Svechs game has fallen off exactly but it doesn’t seem like he’s communicating well with his line mates when entering the offensive zone. A lot of touch passes and plays where his line mates just aren’t expecting it or don’t even see it. Necas has a bit of this syndrome as well. I think part of it is that Svech bounces from line to line a lot so maybe isn’t forming consistent mind meld with players. He’s just so good that he can always create chances though. It’s hard to argue with results since every line is scoring.

Honestly my biggest concern other than getting Mrazek back is the defence. They’ve been pushing the puck well to create offence but the d zone play just hasn’t been up to caliber. I can’t remember the last time Slavin had a good game. Hopefully the COVID fog clears soon because they all kind of seem a bit lost out there in the d zone and I think that flows from the top down.

Yeah, Ned still isn't good enough. I've been pretty consistent even when he hasn't played. I think he's looked a bit better than last season, for instance. But he still can't get results, does a lot of things that make me question his future as an NHL goalie, and has half our losses in 3 games.

Two of those goals were ridiculous, one was soft, the game winner was a breakaway by their best player tonight. He's no worse than Reimer.

That soft one just can't happen in the NHL... I understand our situation and we don't have any better options so I have no problem with rolling with Reimer and Ned while Petr is out, unless there's a good value deal to be made before then. But NHL goalies can't let goals like that in, in a close competitive game against a division opponent you're neck and neck with. Plus, while Ned has been solid at times, he hasn't made many standout saves to show that he can step up and bail the team out when they need him. Florida had 3 very dangerous scoring opportunities. They all went in, plus the softy. Once again, not blaming Ned for the situation he's been put in, just saying he isn't ready and he isn't exactly proving himself worthy of being a relied upon backup goalie in the NHL. And none of this should really surprise us. Is what it is.

We have too much damn talent on this team to be undone by marginal play in net.

What is "talent"? Because I saw a lot of talented players who sucked ass tonight. Contrary to Tripp's proclamations of Slavin and Hamilton's greatness, both of those guys had more noticeably bad moments than the third-string goaltender did tonight. Pesce also had a couple uncharacteristics goofs and Gardiner screwed up at the worst possible time.

You can't just blame the rookie third-string goalie when the "talented" players are the ones making the majority of the mistakes.

And I'm not saying Ned is awesome either. I don't think Reimer or Mrazek win that game either though.

Yeah, that’s fine. None of us think he’ll be a big part of the org going forward or maybe even a small part but him and Reimer are all we’ve got right now until Petr get back. It would be great if he wouldn’t let in dog shit goals like the 3rd one but for the most part if he’s keeping us in the game then he’s doing his job. The team needs to understand that he’s not going to win you the game so you better go out and do it yourself.

You can bitch and moan about wanting Ned to be better but he is what he is. If you wait around for him to play like vintage Hasek and base your play and gameplan around that then you’re going to be waiting a loooong time and lose a lot of games in the process. Learn, adapt, and move forward.

Blame Gardiner for that terrible pass in OT.
Blame Skjei for going on autopilot and not covering his man in front of the net.
Blame Ned for letting in 1 terrible goal but don’t blame him for the teams loss.

We had chances in the 3rd and OT and either didn’t convert or just botched it. Martinook and Slavin had some pretty bad plays where we gave up the puck and our position and momentum
I was just thinking how dreadful Martinook has been. Aside from screaming at Svech in the tunnel, I have no recollection if him contributing a damn thing but sure can remember turnovers and blown offensive chances. I'm sure we'll re-sign him since he's a Brind'Amour-type guy though, just like Foegele.
