Definitely has a couple screws loose up top.I think it was Gazolla last night. Whoever does the 1440 post game show
They said insiders have been telling him that Hill has been injured, but they are just going to ride him out and don't want to go to their backup
this 100%! Close it out.... Every game is more wear and tear, more injury risk. CLOSE IT OUT.Amazing team game. Close this out tomorrow and rest up.
Go Jets, Leafs & Caps! Drag out those series as long as possible.
The Oilers logo would look awesome on that thing.
If we can beat Vegas next game and Winnipeg and Dallas go to game 7. That give the Oilers at least a week to recover
Agreed. I'm perplexed that Knob gave Draisaitl the two most stone-handed wingers on the team, especially if, as most people surmise, he's clearly fighting something. Wouldn't it make sense to give him better finishers (i.e. Kane, Perry) or someone that can provide puck support (i.e. RNH?). One mediocre winger is fine, especially Podz, who can bring a physical element and retrieve pucks, but at least give him a passer/finisher on the other side.I will say that its less of an issue, but while Kappy brought a necessary element of blazing speed that created a forecheck against the lumbering Vegas D, he also brings tunnel vision and the offensive awareness of a wombat. That line is a work in progress, and despite the win, could see Arvidsson back in just for some level of offensive competence. Perry significantly less effective today too.
Good game by Skinner but again, that's the problem with him. He finally looks like a starter and then rattles off a bunch of bad games in a row. If he could clean up his inconsistent play it would do wonders. That said the team was lights out in front of him. He made a few good saves but barely had to do anything. I still hope he can close this series out and then Pickard can be ready to go next series though I assume he would then get the start next series as well which I'm against.
I'm wondering if Knob keeps Drai with those guys to prevent him from making those blind passes he does when he plays with more skilled playersAgreed. We won, so it's water under the bridge, but the selection of wingers for Draisaitl is puzzling to say the least, especially now that we have actual depth.
Imagine watching this guy and seeing these numbers as the GM who paid to get rid of him lol.
Sorry Skinner for calling you terrible when you were terrible. Lol you can’t make this stuff up.Pretty sure if anyone is apologizing it's Skinner, if that's how he wants to apologize I accept. I knew the Skinner love fest would be on full display after this game.
I don't think there's many real Oiler fans cheering against him, we're just pissed off when he plays bad. If he helps the team win, well that's his job. He played a composed game tonight but the D absolutely locked it down in front of him too
Interesting idea. Playing him with non-skilled players forces him to take more of a leadership role and play more carefully maybe. He didn't get anything done last night, but he also didn't make any egregious errors. I get the sense Knob had him in more of a shutdown role than an offensive one.I'm wondering if Knob keeps Drai with those guys to prevent him from making those blind passes he does when he plays with more skilled players
This is me. This team is very good, and if they get saves they are a monster, that's where my frustration was from, if he succeeds, they all succeed and that's what matters most.Pretty sure if anyone is apologizing it's Skinner, if that's how he wants to apologize I accept. Confidence is a tricky thing. He is a strange goalie to keep track on…
Like Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde…![]()
Detroit fans made some shit up about him being a locker room cancer to justify that move lol.
As I mentioned in that post, I noticed that too. Interesting that Knob would choose the second-most skilled player on the team (and the league leader in goals) to lead a shutdown line, especially when that player has a limited defensive acumen. It's not something I would do, but I'm not a coach. Not sure if you saw my comments but it was a brilliant move. KK put Kap and Pods with Drai in what was simply meant to be a shutdown line, a sawoff line allowing the Oilers to stack the other lines.
What deserves mentioning is this line rendered the Eichel line to absolutely nothing in this game and then the Oilers were able to roll Vegas in the other matchups and have more depth there.
Its not about Drai, its about changing his role and the team winning. No glory and highlights, but this was essentially Bryan Trottier keeping a clean board and giving up nothing so that his team could win the other matchups.
I think it's a few things. He's excellent defensively, he's big, strong and physical, and he's extremely dangerous offensively, so if the line being shutdown lets up, Draisaitl can bury them.As I mentioned in that post, I noticed that too. After Rantanen the Walman trade might be the second best trade of the deadline. Especially with Ekholm being out for most of the playoffs.Detroit fans made some shit up about him being a locker room cancer to justify that move lol.
I’m in the same boat as well. I had some choice words for Skinner as well. I don’t mind eating my words . Hopefully he can keep it up. One major thing I noticed about him tonight was he was square to puck every shot. He wasn’t moving outta placeWell I complain about Skinner all the time, so I better give him his flowers when he deserves it. He played a pretty quiet game last night, and was more economically in his movements. He didn't have to make any crazy saves truthfully, most of the grade A chances just hit him as the Vegas shooters weren't picking corners, but credit is due for him being in the correct position in the first place. He was much better positionally, to say the least.
I still don't have confidence in him long term, but lets hope he can get another win here this series and allow Pickard to get healthy.
Rishaug and Co were saying he told Drai to just concentrate on shutting down Eichel and the other two to hit everything. Tire them out.Agreed. I will give him props after a good game. Last night was a simple one. He made a few great saves. Made a breakaway save and another key save at 1-0.I’m in the same boat as well. Stetcher and Kapanen filled in good as well. Kane line was lights out.
Not getting too far outta myself, but any word on Eckholm? I know it was mentioned earlier he was definitely out for Rd 2.
This is why Rob Brown is a radio analyst and Knoblauch is the head coach of a team up 3-1 in the second round.Rishaug and Co were saying he told Drai to just concentrate on shutting down Eichel and the other two to hit everything. Tire them out.
Rob Brown said he hated this move. Said find others to do this if they want to shadow him, etc. Don't stick 2 fourth liners with him.
I'm in the Rob Brown camp, but it seemed to have worked for this game.Rishaug and Co were saying he told Drai to just concentrate on shutting down Eichel and the other two to hit everything. Tire them out.

Yep, how dare we criticized bad play especially on a team with 2 generational players. Who is ever supposed to be ok with below average goaltending seriously? This is me. This team is very good, and if they get saves they are a monster, that's where my frustration was from, if he succeeds, they all succeed and that's what matters most.
