Post-Game Talk: We’re all smilin with you tonight Stu

Massive credit to Stu for finding his A game and to KK for what I thought was a terrible 2nd line but who were hard matched on Eichel shutting him down. Great strategy. Kane was the Kane we needed. Frederic hung in there against Bigfoot and got in a couple good licks. Stetcher looked great and helped Nurse level out. Kapanen was a hitting machine in the first. Still needs to get his hands and eyesight aligned so he can hit the shooting target but he was light years better than Arvidsson. Best Oilers game of the year. Glad I didn’t listen to the bitter old man voice in my head (I hate that guy) and watched the game.

The Oilers' and Knoblauch's affinity toward Skinner reminds me of Al Pacino from the movie 'Two for the Money." He runs a sports betting advisory firm or something and he has a guy who runs models who is reliable, but consistently mediocre. He's a gambling addict and prefers Matthew McConaughey's intuitive style that results in long streaks of tremendous picks, but also long streaks of terrible ones.

Maybe the Oilers' brass are just gambling addicts and Stu is their fix.

Skinner was only in because Pickard was injured

Lol Cassidy saying in the post game he's going to get the league to look into why we didn't get more penalties for going into the crease. Unreal.

He also gave us a lot of credit, said we played a playoffs winning game in a number of fashions and there's a reason we were within a goal last year.

I'd love the league to say... fine, then we'll call all the slashes and blocker punches Hill makes.

One thing you have to love about Knoblauch - guy makes money adjustments in series.

More than any coach I've ever witnessed in my entire life, maybe not in game period to period, but game to game he just knows what strings to pull and when. It's not just personnel but also systems and execution.

Literally can't recall one of his mid series moves not paying off successfully almost immediately. Which is kind of remarkable.

I'm not saying him being in net the last 2 games is an example of their affinity to him. They have always seemed higher on him than made sense. Last game is just an example of a good performance that he sometimes has.

This is exactly why I didn't get too down on the decisions yesterday. I wouldn't have made the same decision with Kapanen, but Knoblauch has earned the benefit of the doubt.

I was screaming for the blocker match to be called. They never call it anymore. Binnington goes nuts with his blocker once or twice a year it seems and nothing ever called. You can’t look at a goalie but seeing Binnington and Stolarz and now Hill all hacking and whacking and blockering it’s high time the league starts calling the goalie bullshit.

I wasn’t ecstatic when I heard Kapanen was in. Great move. His bad habits creep in slowly so I wouldn’t play him for long stretches of time though.

Having J skinner and Arviddson as scratches is crazy depth.

He was fantastic last year with that. This year it seemed the magic wore off but I figured the roster had a lot to do with it. The last 5-7 games we had basically a reinforced AHL team and a lot of injuries too. But it certainly seems that after Game 2 in LA when the team found their footing and returning injured players reintegrated and felt more comfortable KK has again brought out the Midas touch.

I think it was Gazolla last night. Whoever does the 1440 post game show

They said insiders have been telling him that Hill has been injured, but they are just going to ride him out and don't want to go to their backup

agreed. Knob might be the best coach at adjusting in deep series I’ve seen in the last 10 years

Second only to the Canes. Man, the adjustments they’re making in game are phenomenal. Granted, the Caps coaching staff don’t have the skill set to counter anything that is thrown their way. They’re losing the series for that team.

Sounds like someone lining up some "reasons" why things happened lol.
