Underdogs? UNDERDOGS?

The Vancouver Canucks have accomplished the most incredible feat of being the most winnable team in NHL history - in one season! They have overtaken the Montreal Canadiens as the most successful sports franchise ever.

...well at least that's how their fans come off here the way they talk
You guys must worship the ground Montreal fans walk on. 😆

You don't even have to go that far back.

There was a large thread earlier this year dedicated to oiler fans insulting the oiler players and management and saying they are done with the team for good.

I'd wager those people are now back and thumping their chests at other fanbases now.

Yeah they were pathetic

However after NEVER hearing from Van fans ever, this is a new bar set for the amount of bandwagon hopping

O this is a treat. 6 game sample size against the same team.

Might actually be satire in which case I applaud you.
To be fair, this season the Canucks did beat them 5 games to one (6 games total) and that one game was a 2-1 OT win by the Oilers. The Canucks hammered them 8-1 for one and soundly beat them for the others.

We should have a fan ranking based around n how many Cups they’ve seen their team win.
Lower level fans need to defer to upper level ones. I’ve seen my team win 12. 😆

12? Are you or were you a Habs fan?

I've prob seen maybe 7-8
5 Oilers and 2 or 3 Habs. No at least 3 Montreal

I'm not a canucks fan but I do live here.

This team was basically dead in the city for close to a decade.

I'm hearing from many people this year who never talked about the Canucks before. ...even surprising me because I considered they had no interest in the game. Certainly, there is a bandwagon element, but it's sure more fun when the buzz is back in the city for the Canucks.

The Oilers and Canucks played each other 4 times this season, not 6.

You realize 2 of those games were their first 2 games of the season, one was Nov 6, and the other one was without McDavid?

Congrats, but Oiler fans put zero stock into the regular season series tbh.

The Jets walked all over the Avs in the regular season, we all saw how it went in the playoffs.

The Canucks may win the series, but after Knoblauch took over the Oilers have been a completely different team. We'll see what happens

Absolutely
I joke around here and go overboard at times but we've all been there with our CND teams outside of To and MTL.

Nothing better than to compete and be in the hunt

This is funny in an ironic way. All my friends in Vancouver absolutely hate the Canucks and have some weird thing against hockey and specifically organized sports for some odd reason, which is baffling.

I read through the series list, so I obviously misread the dates. My bad on that.

As for the rest, I'm a fan of both teams and have seen the Oilers fall apart faster than their Netminder. They seem to run off of McD and Drai and Hyman coming out of left field at times. Not saying the team is bad, they're not, but I've lost money betting on them in the playoffs on a regular basis, so I'm literally putting money where my mouth is lol. Still love them, tho.

The Canucks are a fun team to root for just because they've never won it all and seeing them lose the Cup and the city rioted as a result makes me wonder if a strange way what would happen if they WON the Cup? I'd like to find out!

Yeah, I'm weird. I know.

Huh. How about that.

A Kraken fan went with the Canucks. Sadly, the other twenty three pundits favoured the Oilers.

Should I continue debating whether the Oilers are favoured? No, I shouldn't.

But I'll have to, won't l?

I hate to rain on your little parade, but the Oilers have the best odds to win the Cup on the heavy majority of betting sites..
Oh well if bookies say it's so we should all bet on them and get rich.
I mean everyone knows gambling is never you know a gamble.

FWIW the oilers should be the favourites since we are missing our elite #1 goalie but let's not pretend that Vancouver is very capable of scoring goals against the oilers.
They play their best offensive games against teams like the oilers.

I like the oilers and think they are a very good team but I like the way we match up against them but would obviously be more confident with Demko.

This series will depend entirely on how much of it is played at 5 on 5. The Canucks are the better team definitely, but the Oilers get those McDavid can't be touched calls constantly and have a deadly PP.

The Canucks are better at ES because they shoot the puck more, and get shot at less than the Oilers, as a percentage. They have a higher percentage of expected goals, and a higher percentage of expected saves, all at 5v5.

It's ironic you're pointing fingers at the Canucks scoring two (2) powerplay goals all series while the Oilers needed at least two PPG (they got 3) and an EN to beat LA who scored 4 ESG in game 1, a PPG to take game 2 to OT while LA scored 5 ESG, a PPG to win game 4 1-0, and a PPG to win game 5.

Empty net is clearly not the same as PP, if the other team gets the puck (and they don't hit the post) you immediately lose, that's not the case on the powerplay, you're heavily insulated by... you know... having a goalie.
Oilers are just using a system that allows them to convert at a higher rate than the Canucks. The Rick Tocchet system.

Hilarious how Canucks fans are now arguing the complete opposite of what they have been all season.

The Oilers played a team in LA that was better 5v5 than Nashville, during the regular season.
It is tough to compare any playoff stats as you are only playing one team.

The Oilers failed to outplay top 3 5v5 team LA at 5v5, it doesn't mean that would also be the case for Vancouver or Nashville.

Oilers did have better 5v5 stats throughout the regular season than Vancouver.

You have to admit, McDavid gets more soft calls than anyone in the league by miles. You also have to admit the Oilers are a very average 5 on 5 team. If McDavid doesn't get his soft calls this is a quick series for the Canucks.
You clearly don't watch many Oiler games.

There's not a player in the league that gets held up more than McDavid, most of the time it goes uncalled.
