As an objective and neutral fan who has watched many games by both teams this year and in the preceding years, i think the Oilers are in over their head and will get bullied and frustrated by the Canucks in 6 games. Will be a great series either way if either team wins tho, good for the game, especially for neutral fans!

Man I love this matchup :yo:

the melt down in Edmonton if they lose to the Canucks would be priceless. Canucks core is just starting to get their playoff experience, they weren't contenders coming into the season so this is all bonus points. Oilers came into the season as a cup contender with playoff experience.

The idea that Vancouver is playing with house money isn't true as they were one of the most aggressive teams and selling their future at the deadline

They might have exceeded expectations, but mainly because they underperformed previous seasons. You don't just go trading 1st round picks for rentals to get playoff experience - what happens when you're ready? You got no farm and no picks.

Vancouver's core isn't a young core that's on their ELC. Their core is even older than Edmonton's. They were going for it this year.

Nucks match up really well against the Oilers but they'll need Demko to be healthy. In that scenario, Canucks in 6.

But if Demko's out, could go either way.
Demko likely still two weeks out, doubt we see him unless this goes 6/7

Rooting for that McDavid cup to cement his legacy but I can see them getting goalie’d by a hot back up or Demko standing on his head.

A true McDavid legacy would start at his reaction to Oilers winning the draft lottery and him never getting to a finals.

Should be fun. Nashville was a tough matchup for the Canucks, It they got it done. Silovs has been outstanding, not your typical 3rd string goalie.

Oilers looked really good against the kings. Will probably be a more wide open series than we saw against Nashville.

Like the regular season, round 1 is over and doesn’t mean a whole heck of a lot now.

They massively exceeded expectations if you go back and look at pre-season. They also have around a 3 year window starting now to get better in the summer. This season will be viewed as an overwhelming success in Vancouver regardless of the outcome here. Expecially after Tocchet wins the Adams, and Hughes wins the Norris.

Easier to trade first rounders now for help than to draft a Juolevi, Virtanen, Hodgson and use them as chips later.

Fake news. Preds was a team full of meh including Saros.
NSH should've traded him when he could've net them a big haul. VAN with no namers in net won the goalie battle
Fake news is LA being better than Preds when Preds had higher points lol

What future did they sell? They kept their best prospects and all their nhl ready ones.

Giving up a late first and a B prospect is not selling your future.

Silovs is an unknown. He did well, against Nashville's offense. He's about to enter a trial by fire. Oilers have more gifted players and will force the Nucks into taking penalties. After Silovs gets his net filled on the PK a few times we'll see how his confidence holds up
we beat the oilers by DeSmith twice and Silovs is better. Sometimes the unknown goes against the opponent
