Incredible how much the Oilers are overrated across the board. Like the way it sounds everyone has them penciled as Cup favorites when there's still Colorado, Florida, NYR etc.

I think the series is completely 50/50 if EP returns to form and Silovs plays at the level of Demko. McDrai is scary, sure, but the rest of their team haven't really done all that much in the post season in the past five years.

It's really difficult to predict how this series will play out. On the one hand, the Oilers handled the King's 1-3-1 effortlessly while that same strategy gave us fits. But at the same time, we ran the table on these guys in the regular season. Is it a rock-paper-scissors dynamic?

Then there's the way that we looked against Nashville. Is that a continuation of our scoring woes post-All Star break? Or is it that Nashville had all the makings of a Cinderella team and we managed to fend them off through patience and attrition? As JT Miller said, the Preds reminded him of CBJ when they upset the Lightning in the 1st round.

What will our offense look like when there's more room to pass it around, when more of our shots get through, when the team across from us isn't clogging the middle of the ice? What will our PK and defense look like with Edmonton's high end offensive weapons? Will Petey fare better matching up against an Oiler's 3rd line of MacLeod, Holloway and Perry?

I guess that's why they play the games. Can't wait!

Depends I think on how the officiating is in the series (since the Oilers power play seems so lethal). At even strength, I like our chances.

That video making the rounds of the kid launching a profanity laden tirade at the Preds and Oilers is all kinds of yikes. Primarily because an adult/multiple adults let that video get online in the first place. Jesus.
The reaction to the video has been far worse than the video itself. Lots of the Oilers fanbase exposing themselves as racists on twitter regarding that video. To be fair, a few good Oilers fans are criticizing them.

Every team has unhinged fans. We have as many as anyone. I would love to see Edmonton's arrogant fans knocked off their pegs however. The team has been given every advantage and has wasted its potential entirely so far. Long may it continue.
Canucks definitely do NOT have unhinged fans Zippy :shakehead

Good, let him be. All the sweeter if the Canucks prevail.
Yep. This league is boring without hatred. I want the Canucks to be the most insufferable fanbase and team that is hated league wide; especially by the usual Canadian suspects.

Ryan Whitney is part of the growing trend of dumb ex-players that started a podcast and only contribution is telling stories of how they threw their career away by not taking it serious. They offer nothing interesting because they don’t understand strategy, positioning, or tactics. They live entirely in the past and constantly relieve their prime; which to them means banging hot chicks while doing shots. Just a bunch of Al Bundys with recording equipment.

Ryan Whitney is a whiney bitch and if I was to encapsulate what an annoying Oiler fan is like, it would be him.

I made mention on the main board that I'm going to avoid hf and all social media platforms during the series so I don't get upset at whatever vocal minority is spewing. So when game 1 starts I'll either see you guys next year, or I'll see you in round 3.

This is probably the healthiest thing someone can do. Just enjoy the series on your own terms.

A lot of it is just too much respect for past playoff results. Hockey is much more pseudo-random than that. Oilers went to the conference finals, so everyone assumes that is their floor and that Vancouver is just happy to be here. These 2 weeks can't end soon enough.

Don’t insult Al Bundy! He scored four touchdowns in one game.

Here's a list of what Ryan Whitney has accomplished in his career:

He's the last person that should be trash talking about never winning anything

my favourite genre of player to mock is guys whose teams won immediately after trading them

bonus pts if they were a skill guy traded for a less skilled intangibles guy

whitney hits both categories

I think alot of you getting too riled up about how everyone views the canucks. I mean, who cares? Lol, I always prefer the dog role anyways, makes the tears that much more delicious when the team proves them all wrong. Besides, why waste all the extra energy trying to be defensive and bitter about it, when there is absolutely nothing you can do, and it does come off a bit whiney, like Woah is me 😂. Let em all have their say, that's what will make that bitter pill hard to swallow when the comeuppance redirects into their asses, then y'all can go back to the shit talk hahah

People forget that the Preds looked done and dusted halfway through the season, then went on an absolute tear to close it out and make the playoffs comfortably. The same argument they're making as to why we'll get rolled over (i.e. Oilers have been hot most of the season even though we swept the season series) applied to the Preds.

The matchup is obviously very different but it's not like we were "well" matched vs the Preds, they really attacked our ability to transition the puck and neutered Hughes. So facing the Oilers does give us more options in terms of how to play the game even though it'll clearly be harder to contain McDrai + Hyman.
