It wouldn't be a bad idea to attempt to avoid being short handed in hp.

I do not try to understand the genius that is Sutter, I have faith he's onto something though.

I remember Don Cherry commenting on Sutter after Game 5 last year vs NJ. I think LA was down by a goal and he benched Brown in the last half of the third period. He said something along the lines of that Sutter doesn't necessarily concern himself with the game, but rather the series overall... and it obviously worked as Brown went alpha in Gm 6.

Also, people mentioned he benched Williams for Gm 2 vs SJ with 6:00 mins left... though actually Williams did have a shift at 3:52. But still, down a goal, arguably our best forward for much for the STL series didn't get a sniff of ice when the team was down a goal and that turned out pretty well.

At this point, we just have to have faith that Sutter knows what he's doing and his plan is for the long haul. He's a smart coach who knows his hockey.

Why is Ellerby replacing Martinez wth? No more Muzzerby please!

Well, as you may have known or see my past posts. I have criticized Muzzin in round 1, but since game 6 of the last round and the past two games he has look a lot better. He is playing better physically and making better passes, and seems to be more decisive on his plays.
Now, like most people here on this board, I would prefer Martinez over Ellerby, but perhaps DS wants to make a point with the boys. No dumb nor lazy penalties!

Talk about trial by fire with Pearson if he's in tonight. There's a part of me that wants to see this happen, and another that doesn't. If it means A-Mart is out, and Ellerby is in, I don't really want it. Guess we'll see if 7 D are dressed or not. Got the nerves right now.

It's amazing what a few more seconds can do for the play of a rookie. Muzzin looked so bad because of STL for check being so fast and hard. Think Ellerby will look better because of that also. But I just don't see how we can have those 2 together on the ice. There needs to be one stable player. And maybe that is why Martinez is looking at being sat, he didn't provide just that.

The people saying that Sutter has it out for Martinez are forgetting the integral role Martinez played last year, and the confidence that Sutter showed in him then. After game 3 or 4 against St. Louis, Sutter commented on Martinez by saying that he had not "earned his place" on the ice, or something to that effect, this year. The kid is obviously not playing the way that Sutter wants and needs, and for that, frankly, any player should be benched. The team needs total buy-in, and if you're not on board, you're in the way.

This may be random but I was at a bar last night and noticed that after the Sens & Pens game Don Cherry was talking about the Kings. I saw some highlights and he mentioned something about Doughty smiling on the bench during a timeout while John Stevens was above him talking to the team. I'm looking for the video all over to see what Cherry had to say. Does anyone know where I can find it?

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockeynightincanada/video/#id=2385914221 after 2:50...

after that, they are talking about Carts &Richards and Philly.

Quick's face sure is on a lot of the leader boards....all of them. :)

Lol, that profile picture. He looks like he's trolling the leader board

I agree with most of what Sutter does but I don't think I'll ever understand some things. He has so much tolerance for guys like King and Muzzin, but then zero tolerance for guys like Martinez and Nolan. I don't get it.

You hit it right on the nail.

What a smirk! That half crooked smile. Freaking ******* and I love it.

You also need to consider that Martinez was -3 in that game. We all know that doesn't tell the whole story but that is still a big issue. He was on ice for every goal against in that game. His fault or not.

Muzzin was a -2 in game 2 in STL, but he still elected to go with seven defensemen instead of just taking out one. It just looks to me he has a longer rope with some guys.

AWESOME SAUCE ! :yo: QUICK FOR SUPREME WORLD LEADER !
... too bad he's got so many flaws in his game and that we should fire Bill Ranford though :sarcasm: eh CNS ;) I mean otherwise Quick might be a decent Goalie ? :D

I guess because Muzzin is a rookie so DS give him a little slack. Since Martinez and Nolan are no longer now on a second cup run they have no slack.

If only the left side of that chart was more like this one:

Hope the Kings inject some joy into my horrible day. My dog kept having epilepsy seizures.

Dang it, I can't focus on anything right now. Just want them to drop the damn puck! I'm not expecting a win tonight, but it sure as hell would be nice!!!

GO KINGS GO!

Or he expects more out of his 3rd year guy vs his rookie.

That still doesn't make sense. Let's say I have two guys. They both have bad games. Who are you going to go with? The guy who has more experience and has been through a SC run or the rookie? It's no question for me.

Not saying Muzzin had a bad game last time but Martinez has been consistently dependable other than last game. Muzzin has had numerous crappy games.

And the rookie argument doesn't explain why Dwight King, who was also a -2 in game 2 against STL, also continuously gets breaks. It just questionable to me. They aren't game breaking choices, I just feel like he likes some guys more than others.

We know that he looks at more than the score sheet. But we don't know exactly what he is looking at.
And where I can agree I also trust our coach. He has been very good to us. It just some little thing he is seeing is my guess. But I don't know.

The problem I have with King is that he brings very little for somebody with top 9 ice time. Of course he does some of the little things but imagine how much better this team would be with a more than average 2nd/3rd line winger. King should play 4th line minutes.

When was the last time that King made something happen, I seriously cant remember. Now that guy is averaging 15 minutes a night. Mind boggling.
