nice to see 3 goals scored by recent blues players, who had impactful seasons
Dakota since Tochett took over has been a great feel good story.
He plays like guys did 30 years ago.

He's going to rightfully get term this summer along with a hefty raise, hopefully from us. I do think people are getting a bit nuts with AAV, I think 3.5-4 over 4-5 years.

Won't be surprised if a team desperate to make a splash offers more.

Saros needs to be better or the Preds are going to have it tough.
Think the Hughes and Joshua goals were clean. Hughes via a double screen and Joshua all alone in front. Lindholm goal, think it did catch a bit of the Dman and handcuffed him.

The only upside(?) for the Preds is that the Canucks also looked anemic for most of the night. Would be surprised if game 2 ends up being as low event as this one though.
Canucks were far better at even-strength. That's not debatable, either via the stats or, y'know, just watching the game.

A low-event pace is far more favourable to VAN. That's what they want. They've been a low event-team all season. NSH wants a high-pace, rush-based game. The Canucks do not do, nor want to do, anything on the rush. They want nothing to happen in the NZ and all chances to be created on the forecheck. And that's mostly how the game played out.

I also want nothing to happen in New Zealand. It's perfect the way it is.

Zadorov was a beast last night. Myers was solid as well. They are gonna be a problem for teams if they play that physical and limit the penalties.

If that’s the case neither should the Zucker goal.
Poor take. Demko didn't even see the puck on the Zucker goal, whereas on the Lindholm goal the puck literally went through Saros. He would definitely want that one back.

Upon review, it seems pretty clear that the Canucks can play a lot better, and they began to find that confidence as the game wore on.

I've changed my mind and I think Pettersson did play better than initially judged. Of course the expectations are extremely high for him, and they should be. He's encouraged them himself.

The biggest problem is both his linemates struggled for different reasons. Hogs was overwhelmed and had a poor outing. In some ways that's to be expected, as this level of play is new again.

Mikheyev is positionly sound a lot of the time, but he really has convinced himself he'll never score again. Petey has a bit of that himself, although a couple of his chances were extremely close. Mikheyev doesn't look like anything will go in.

Anyhow, that's a tough place to be in for the playoffs, but for some reason I'm now confident Pettersson wil work his way through this and Hogs will as well. I'd like to Podz back in for the hustle, the shot and the abrasiveness.

Pettersson needs to adapt his game to his linemates, and giving him some extra shifts on the 649 line might benefit everyone.

I think this team is intriguing, and if they can figure things out as they go along, they have the players to go deeper than one might expect. They could also fail to achieve the necessary cohesion and lose in the first round though as well.

It's fantastic to be in the post season and be having all these feelings again. Demko is the lynch pin that gives them the time to make it work.

Pettersson played with Lafferty a lot, the first goal was entirely on Laff.

It's just code for "I don't want the Canucks to win, but the Preds looked awful so I'm writing this series off"
Predators did not even look like an NHL team and barely lost to the Canucks. It’s just my opinion but both teams had issues creating offense

Really? I was seeing a Preds team that tried to sit back on a 2-1 lead and had stopped pressing offensively for a period and a half, then got caught sucking wind in the 3rd from the constant 5 on 5 offensive zone pressure. Canucks broke through because they can roll 4 lines, while the Preds are top-heavy and can't match that for long.

Look congratulations on the series win (Predators have never won a series after losing game one so it’s basically over) but I just am not convinced that Vancouver advances past the next round. Do not be offended because Canucks will have plenty of to win in the coming years.
