Decent game. First 10 minutes seemed like both teams were trying to set a physical tone but settled a bit and got sloppier in the second. Don’t think either team really brought their A game, but other than some solid looks by the Preds and the 5 alarm stop by Demko, I think the Canucks were better 5v5, and that tilted even more as the game went on. Lindholm’s game was promising as a Canucks fan. Pettersson’s was not. Still think this will go to the Canucks, but Preds are definitely capable of taking it. Van can’t get ahead of themselves.

Have we seen a line with Miller and Joshua ? Maybe throw in Hoglander? At any point in pre-season or regular?
Had a line of Joshua-Miller-Garland for a while but can't afford to do that. Doesn't give us any other offensive weapons on other lines with the disappearing act Pettersson is pulling. Plus Miller can play with anyone and excel

The only upside(?) for the Preds is that the Canucks also looked anemic for most of the night. Would be surprised if game 2 ends up being as low event as this one though.

I'm going to quote myself from earlier this month because I am truly pumped to see Dak have such a huge game.

The Preds were dominated at ES, up until the last 5 minutes of the game they had an ESXG of 1.06 to the Canucks 2.5, all situations was 1.5 to 2.7.
Yea, and those numbers are low. The Canucks were better than the Preds but it was one team being anemic and the other team being basically non-existent. They got like half way through the 3rd period and the shots were 1-1.

Canucks showed up for like a 20 second span and then the Preds actually had to attempt offense again, but overall that game was extremely low event.

Hard to believe that in pre season and early season Tocchet was calling out Joshua for not being engaged in the play and it was unclear whether he’d be in the opening lineup. Seems like an eternity ago.
The guy has been a force offensively and physically all year. He and Garland together have formed one of the best third lines in the league this season. Add in Lindholm at center and that line dominated play all night.
Players like those three become an even bigger factor in the playoffs when the top six on both teams tend to get neutralized for large portions of the games.
Joshua especially is tailor made for playoff hockey!

I've slept on it and I'm still mad at the performance the Preds gave in the back half of that game last night. They simply have no answer to the Canucks depth and Brunette refused to move from his silly constant breakout stretch passes that got intercepted. Woeful.
I’ve said it before but Andrew brunette is Bruce Boudreau 2.0

Vancouver's depth was on full display in game one. The Preds can match up against Vancouvers top 2 lines but it's the bottom 6 where Vancouver really shows the advantage. Also, the Preds have no answer for Zadorov. He was a physical presence out there and was noticeable all game. If Vancouver can get that type of physical game from him all series I don't think the Preds can win. Vancouver is just too deep.
