Big Game Story: The Los Angeles Kings showed they aren't ready to give up their grasp on the Stanley Cup just yet, as the defending champions scored more goals in Game 4
against the St. Louis Blues than they had in the entire series to that point, evening things up as the series shifts back to Scottrade Center. Now, can the Blues regain
the momentum or will the Kings become the first road team to win a game?, as the series suddenly has become a best-of-3.
KINGS need to remind the BLUES which team won the Stanley Cup Championship. GO KINGS GO !!!

Forward & Team Captain DUSTIN BROWN said:
"It’s a game of emotion out there, and we got that lead, and you get your blood flowing and you’re jumping and I don’t know if you’re quicker, but you feel quicker, and that’s what momentum is. We had better sticks. We were starting to knock down a lot of pucks in the second half in the third, and we had a few chances off of turnovers, just because we had good sticks. Now we need to have that at the beginning of the game."
Forward & Alt Captain ANZE KOPITER said:
"It’s hard to explain, but every time you’re going through a drought – of 20? 19? I don’t even know – and when you get that one, you feel about a hundred pounds lighter. So I felt pretty good after that.” (On heading into St. Louis tied at two) … “I think if you look at tonight’s game, it was probably the best game we played, but we still believe we can push a little more. The confidence is there. We got down into a hole, two-nothing, and we climbed out of it. So now it’s a matter of winning the next one, just like it is in any other situation."
Forward JUSTIN WILLIAMS said:
"That's playoffs, that's battling all the way to the final buzzer. We needed a big third period, and we responded. We're an experience team. We've been through a lot, and we knew we were facing a daunting task going back to St. Louis down 3-1, and we found it in ourselves. This is a group that's been in pressure situations before, and we know what we have to do to overcome it."
Forward DUSTIN PENNER said:
"There’s a lot of resilience in this room. The game has a funny way of making you question it, but we have a lot of resolve. Obviously we draw on experiences from last year. As individuals from different years that we’ve played, that’s what makes us professional athletes and the competitors we are."
Forward JEFF CARTER said:
"I think we've been getting better every night, We've been in that position before and these guys don't get too down on themselves. We just chipped away."
Head coach DARRYL SUTTER said:
"We’re trying to play a complete 60 minutes. It really doesn’t make much difference in the game, whether it’s home or road. They’re all one-goal games, and they’re all third period games, and just go shift-by-shift.” (On the performance by key players) … “Jeff scores a great goal. Willie’s been good the whole series. It’s good to see Kopi score. That’s what they’re supposed to do. That’s what series are about. You know what? If you covered the playoffs last year, it’s about big goals, not who scores ‘em. But at the same time, who normally leads your team in scoring have to be close to that."

2013WCQFScheduleRnd1_zps4ce99c3a.png

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

I don't know how anyone can have a good feeling about a road game. The Kings are 0-8 in their last 8 road games! They haven't won a road game since March.

They've been terrible on the road all season. I haven't seen much of anything positive on the road from this team in eons.

It's a must-win game for that reason. It won't be easy, but it will be ****-tons easier than a game 7 on the road.

I don't know, the King have gotten better in every game of the series. Game 2 was a vast improvement over game 1....and now they are going in with a ton of confidence. If there's any road game to feel good about, it should be this one.

Time to exorcise our road demons. If we play a good road defensive game, Quick keeps up his play, and we keep up the scoring touch from last game, we could steal this one.

Really this series out to be 3-1 LA after the Game 1 gaffe. We had the momentum in OT. But we play it where it lands at 2-2. This just means I'm not buying into the LA isn't good on the road because these games have been so close so I don't think there are any demons to exorcise.

We just need to continue playing 7 D Men and play the same way where as Hitch put it, we are "at another level" which they "have no answer for".

The offense hasn't showed up on the road. Yes, they've lost a bunch in a row, but sans the Dallas 3rd period debacle and I guess the Wings game with no DB, every game has been a competitive game. It's not like they just completely fall apart on the road, they just can't score. Score 3 goals tonight and take control of this series.

Breaking through with a couple of goals in the first period would sure be nice.

Just have to play our game and hope for the bounces. These games have been close, but we've responded and have handled the Blues well. I'm sure our players will show up today and make it a good game.

Must-win game. Kings have their foot on the Blues' throat. Don't let up.

Absolutely. And I think that 3rd period of game 4 showed how much of a force they can be when they don't let up. It won them a Cup last year. And Hitch was right, the Kings know how to find another level and the Blues couldn't do that. I think the Kings will come out and continuie what they showed in the last half of game 4. And keep getting pucks to the net and drive it home.
HOpefully they can capitalize on a PP. Shut it down in front, win every shift and come home Friday in the driver's seat.

Backes didn't practice for the Blues today, Steen centered that line. Could be a maintaince day.

I think last game was huge for the Kings. The Blues are now going to be second guessing themselves as the defensemen pinching in on the offensive blueline burned them pretty bad last game.

1 of 2 things will happen imo. Either the Blues try to pinch again and the Kings will need to bury their odd man rushes when they do get past the pinches, or they will be too worried about getting burned again and the gap control will be off allowing the kings speed through the neutral zone.

It's been said the Blues have to pretty much play a perfect game in order to beat the kings. They obviously faultered last game, lets hope that trend continues.

So true, but the Blues are a lot more fragile than the Kings IMO.

It seems that both teams need to be in a tight game to play their best hockey, but the Kings haven't had a lead of more than one goal this entire series.

I think the latter. I'm sure they went over video and told their guys to stay on the right side of the puck. If they execute well, they could have great gap control, if they get too tentative and safe, then it might afford us some room to get something started. At the same time, the Kings need to shore up their coverage in their zone. No more guys sneaking in behind us to pick up the loose pucks.

If that's right, I wonder which D sits. I hope Martinez plays, he's been very good.

Sounds like they are due to me!
