Love the quote from Sutter about wishing he could play with Carter. Gold.

He isn't wrong. I'd prefer Richards play with two better wingers than Kopitar. Anze shouldn't "need" Brown and/or Williams to succeed: he is supposed to be a player that raises the level of play of his linemates.

If Penner comes out strong again, don't be surprised if he is moved up to the top lines. Sutter won't stick with these lines if they crap the bed again.
Exactly. People seem to be forgetting already that the Kings were not very good at even strength in April. Someone can confirm my accuracy, but the Kings were out scored 23-15 at even strength in April. They won a lot of the games they did because of the powerplay. The regular line combos went stale the last month of the season. Sutter is not an idiot. People keep bringing up last year when saying the lines should go back; that was last year. Those line combinations haven't been nearly as effective more recently.

Elliott/Dillman (can't remember which one) made the educated guess that Penner will be with Kopitar and Carter tonight. If he plays like he did last game that could be huge.

I think people confuse a 5-1 loss with getting outworked all game long. The Kings have a bad road record but being tossed around is something different. I've seen pretty much all Kings games. They looked like amateurs vs the Blues, Wings and Blackhawks. If you are going to tell me that there were other times this season, than I think we have to agree to disagree.

Of course there have been games that the other team was better but that's not what I'm talking about.

St.Louis came in with revenge on their minds, and the Kings were on their heels from the first drop of the puck. Every time the Kings would start to quiet things down, the Blues 4th line came on the ice and just did whatever it wanted to.

It took the Kings the entire game to get into the game, but once they did finally score, the Kings were the better team. Hell the Kings came pretty close to scoring a 2nd goal with like 10 seconds left in regulation. They made things happen in OT. They forced the Blues into taking a penalty. They had a 4 minute PP in OT. Quick messed it up, but the Kings had the momentum at the time.

Nobody knows what the Kings will look like tonight, they may look like crap again, but to have no confidence left in what they could do is a bit much. The Kings aren't the Avs or Panthers this year or anything.

Sutter tried King, Clifford, and Richardson with Kopitar and Carter last game. Please try Penner, Kopi can use another big body on his line to get himself open.

I'm not worried about the series as a whole until we lose at home. Until we've lost a game at home, we're still right in this series.

Same here. Until Kings lose at home, this series is open even if they lose tonight. But really don't know what to think about tonights game.

Still not happy about the lines but the coach knows more than i do so i'll just hope for the best. We really need to play better tonight and our big guns need to get going. Tonight, we need to the first ones to set the tone of the game. The Blues came out hard last game and it looked like it took everyone off guard and we played on hour heels most of the night, need to change that tonight.

Adversity sucks, until you overcome it. The Kings will play much better tonight and St. Louis DID NOT win the series or the conference or the cup Tuesday, even though they celebrated like they did. One game, one loss, by one goal, on a bad play. Until they're not, the LOS ANGELES KINGS are the DEFENDING STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!

Lines back to normal in practice today:

Rather have Penner on 2nd in lieu of King

Hi habs fans in vacation in your beautiful city

Will cnbc switch over to the kings game in the la area as soon as it starrs? Habs sens is slso on cnbc.

I would assume so, as their is no local feed for tonight's game. Though I suppose they could show the start of the game on NBCSN or something, if Habs-Sens is in doubt at the end.

I want Penner to stay with Stoll. He played great, and dating back to last post season I think they have the good chemestry.
Not sure who goes on the left side on the top, Someone needs to step up.

Sutter was really beginning to worry me (and remind me of good ol' TM) with his line shuffling.

Still expect Penner to be put with MR and JC at some point. Fraser in is exactly what we need on the fourth line. Good decisions. Hopefully Greene can play.

hmmm..no doubt top line is better but I like what Carter adn Williams were doing together. Wouldn't mind seeing them switched.

Really miss Willie Mitchell too and thought of him during game 1. As a fan, it really made me appreciate just how special that run was last year and for thje Kings to have made thru 4 rounds with 6 healthy D men. (which someone on one of the networks said had not happened in about 30 years).
Hoping that Greene heals completely and helps the Kings to another deep run.

Lines are better. No more Richardson in the top 6. It's ridiculous to have a player who was a healthy scratch 90% of the season to be playing in the top 6 in the playoffs. Especially when we have no injures!

Dwight King I thought looked pretty good when he was on the Kopitar line in game 1. So, hopefully he'll be able to hold is own tonight. It became very clear in game 1 that Penner was the best player on the ice for the Kings (besides Quick). And IMO it took Sutter far too long to start skating Penner on the top line.

The thing is with Dustin Penner. Despite his lack of numbers. He still has too much skill and there for too much of a threat to not be in the top 6. When we're struggling in a playoff game. Guys like Richardson and Clifford just simply don't have the skills to be playing on the top 6. They hold the lines down and hurt the overall production.

We are paper thin on the LW side. It's the weakest part of our entire organization. So, we need all the help we can get it! And at the end of the day. Dustin Penner is a multi 20+ goal scorer in this league with 2 Stanley Cup rings. I know Sutter is all about his 'it's not what you've done in the past or what you can do. But, what your currently doing' and that's a great point. But..... it's the playoffs... So, shut up and put your best players in!

Looks like Ellerby is playing tonight. Not sure whether to laugh or cry, but it should make for another interesting game. It seemed like every time he was on the ice he made a mistake or a bad play... it was almost amazing to watch.

For the Kings to have success in this game I think our big boys like Nolan, King, Brown, Penner, Stoll, etc. are going to have to make a sticky blue paste out of the opposition's defensemen. That's what I am looking for early in this game. Someone knocking the snot out of Bouwmeester and Petro.
