GDT: WCQF: Game 7 Blues @ Jets 6PM CST FDSNMW/TBS

I just didn’t see his compete level where it should be. I want guys who will run through a wall to win.
You complained saying he didn't try. If he wasn't trying then he would be doing that shit PLD did to get jettisoned from the CBJ not leading the team in multiple offensive categories. There's a difference between saying a player isn't trying and thinking their compete level isn't up to where it should be.

2019 was expected to be a cup contender. 2025 team was expected to be a fringe playoff team.

keep in mind, this team could not win 3 games in a row until 2/3 of the way through the season. they had to win 12 games in a row just to TIE for a playoff spot and win it via a tiebreaker with more ROWs.

I am happy with the progress they made this year. Yes, they choked this series away with 2 chokes (G1 + G7) but when the 4nations break happened, they just came off a OT win vs Chicago where they legit looked like a total bottom feeder team. One of the ugliest wins of the year. So to see them play the way they did after that and more importantly build a culture back that had been lacking for 2-3 years is the best thing to happen. Nobody without homer glasses on was going to say this team could beat Dallas/Florida type of teams.

Now we need to use our cap space this summer to make some moves. #2 RHD and #2C should be the priorities along with moving Faulk and Kyrou out for even more cap space. Lock up Hofer as well.

I think that might be the worst loss in recent memory. I know we weren't supposed to be here, and we frankly probably would have lost way earlier in this series if Hellybuck wasn't spotting us at least one goal a game, but to choke on a two goal lead with under two minutes to go is simply inexcusable for a bunch of professionals. The long view is mostly positive still, but this loss is such a punch in the dick. I would have rather we got our doors blown off then this shit.

That was a hell of a ride, I’m proud of the boys. We got a lot of young talent about to emerge and the Blues got their winning culture back this was a memorable season. Next season should be exciting.

Credit to the Jets too that was gutsy comeback effort from them.
I agree, and I don't. I am proud of them too, and this has been a good learning experience for the younger guys, whom I am impressed with.

However, I also genuinely hope that they aren't feeling very happy with themselves right now. They need to learn from that as well.

I think it's time some folks were shown the door or see how they respond to this. One thing that really annoys me is how some folks, including Kyrou was when the going got tough. Need that killer instinct.

Watching Ehlers push him off the puck like he was a toddler right before the end of OT1 was the final straw for me regarding him. Ehlers is not some sort of huge human being and is coming off a leg injury.

But Kyrou just rolled over and lost yet another board battle like he always does. No second gear for that guy like Holloway has. You can have all the speed you want but when you play scared, you don't use it.

Literally a OT G7 with a chance to move on and he still has no desire to fight for pucks or use his speed. He is so afraid of physicality, it's sad.

Well, that was a helluva ride. Very promising season punctuated by a very frustrating collapse. But, so it goes when the only forwards getting consistent pressure are your 4th line and your 1C. Consolation prizes count for very little, but I do think the boys ought to go into their summer being proud of the run they put together coming out of the 4 Nations break. There is a lot to build on from the back half of this season.

This was a disappointing way to lose. But good job on the team for taking the President's trophy winner to the brink. We didn't deserve to win this one except Binner outplayed Helle. But overall we played right with them on the road and dominated at home.

I look forward to next year. Hopefully some guys can take some steps, and we can shore up some weaknesses.

Great series by the Blues. A team of tough MFers who took the best team in the league as close to the limit as possible. It might be tough in the moment but fans should feel nothing but pride in their team. With every game won by the home team I think it came down to razor thin margins.

This might be the worst Blues team the will see in the next 5 years. The future is looking bright.

And the last post for the 2025 season will end with this stat

TURNOVERS TONIGHT:
FAULK: 9
REST OF THE BLUES D COMBINED: 8

I also hope they resign Suter as a depth 6/7 d-man. I thought he played well this year overall and would be cheap depth. He had a real solid game tonight as well, all things considered.

I'm proud to say I was wrong, this wasn't 2019!

Fowler-Parayko is a top tier pairing...similar and maybe better than the old Bouwmeester-Parayko pairing from that year! Holy cow watching them was fun! :yo:

That said, no team blunders checkmate like the 2025 blues. :P

Bright future for sure though! :)

Parayko's post-game interview was as underwhelming as his clearing attempts. I wonder about his compete level at times. Not to say he isnt a good D-man especially when he's on his game -- I just wonder how hungry he is to win.

jets got away with too many men
So many calls against the Jets in this series and then the refs miss such a blatant too many men call to start the period.

Just got home from the game and rewatching. Shocked this wasn’t called. A power play so early on fresh ice to start the period could have changed the outcome.

Oh for chrissakes, what a horrible take. You and others here trying to single out players for blame probably never played meaningful sports. IT'S SPORTS, GUYS!!!!! Every competition, one wins, one has to lose, that's life, accept it! Opponents want to win too, so sometimes you have to tip your cap when they get the job done better than you. Yes, it hurts losing that way, basically 2 seconds from taking the series. But you can use another perspective, these guys were seconds from taking down the best team in NHL record-wise. Don't be sore loser complainers. Our guys played a great series, they deserve respect, not blame.

They also got away with a clear and obvious trip on walker about a minute before their goal to win it. It wouldn't have mattered though, this team was done as soon as faulk opened up the panic floodgates before the second goal by icing it for no logical reason at all.

I don't mind the officiating tonight but in the series overall it was incredibly poor.

The Walker no-call had me very annoyed. I understand swallowing the whistle in double OT in an elimination game, but it was incredibly blatant and obvious. Similar to Schenn’s penalty for attempting to clear and having the puck go over the glass, which was called.

The entire of regulation led to that, however. Faulk and Buchnevich mishandled the ending so bad.
