PETRO SUCKS
I’d like to know the status of Krug and Scandella
I was just talking with a few friends, and I came to the realization that Krug may not be out long term. If he had a torn ACL/MCL, they probably would have announced that he was having season ending surgery, so hopefully its just a sprain and he's able to rejoin if we make it far enough

Unreal team management by Berube. The last 2 years are whatever and different circumstances, but he really is a great matchup coach. The question I keep wondering is what do you do to try to keep Leddy? He's been amazing, but it's gonna be tough to keep everyone under the cap if Tarasenko wants to come back.
You have to unload Scandella. That's basically it for keeping Leddy. Or you let Perron walk, which might be unavoidable based on what's coming after next season.

ROR, Tarasenko, Kyrou, Thomas, Barby...

But guys! Leddy sucks at d and he was a desperation move by Armstrong. Who should be fired btw!:sarcasm:
Nah, Krug was a desperation move that has worked well when he's not injured. Leddy was probably the 3rd option we were hoping for, but he has fit in really well here. Having said that, Scandella seemed to play well with Parayko initially, but he's not consistent enough. I don't know the analytics for the Parayko-Scandella pairing when he first came over, but the eye test with Leddy is obvious and if I had to guess, his analytics also reflect him to be a positive defensive player.

Good Series blues. You guys definelty deserved to advance. I’ll cheer for you in the next round. Grew to like a lot of players on your team in the series. f*** the Avs
I went into the series prepared to lose actually. I thought that Kaprizov would torch us, or something.

Make no mistake about it, you guys have a fine team up there. :yo:

An announcer made the point it will be tough to double-shift forwards in the Colorado altitude.
They shouldn't even come home.

Should have had wives meet them in Colorado last night. Spend as much time there before the game as possible.

Games 5,6 &7 are going to be rough.

We won……..

Holy shit….. I cheered. My wife opened the door and said I woke up our 3 year old son, and to shut my mouth

But…… we won… neat!!!!! Anyway my wife is pissed

Night folks
That's a hard learned lesson but one I've heard over time. You have to change your cheering routine. It sucks, but yeah...good luck.

Is it bad I hate Dom at the Athletic more than I hate the Avs?....
People like him moved the line to +140 Blues before the series started, which was an insane betting line given how many edges the Blues owned heading into it, all of which proved significant in the series.

We're in an age where people have accepted advanced stats into their betting lines and yet the advanced stats are still crude and create misinformation. Honestly, if your model had Minnesota winning the series your model is complete dogshit

That doesn't concern me at all. The glut of talent we have in the middle 6 has made it a challenge to give many of our forwards enough ice time.

Tarasenko and Saad are playing about 16 minutes a night. Buch is at 17 minutes. Kyrou is around 15:30. Barby is at 14. That's 5 wingers that you want on the ice a bit more than they are (maybe only 4 if you're happy with Barby's 14 a night). None of the big dogs are playing huge minutes. Perron, Schenn and Thomas are all between 17:50 and 18:45. ROR is the only forward above 19 minutes a night and he is at 20:47 a night (and isn't taking 4th line shifts).

Advanced stats will NEVER be able to account for ALL the different factors that go into creating a result on the ice, especially because of the way the result changes in different combinations of those factors when they occur together. It's NOT that the computor can't recreate those interactions accurately. It's because the Human mind can't think of all those interactions and recognise them by the eye test to understand exactly how they interact together, so those interactions can be programmed into the simulation. For that reason, "the eye test" taken by a lifelong hockey player and student of the game will be a necessary component of an analysis that also looks at advanced and basic statistics. That, combination analysis ("educated"/traditional analysis) will be the best analysis to discern how effective players and teams are, and often make up for the missing factors the programmers fail to include in their simulations.

Blues and Avs is going to be an excellent series! Cheering for you guys! Until you play us…. Then we shall be mortal enemies!

But then we can be friends again after the series!!

Until whatever NFL team you cheer for plays the Colts…. Then…. Mortal enemies again 😡

Unless some of you are Colts fans. Then we can remain besties!

Oxygen masks in the locker room between periods do wonders.

I'm pretty sure I heard or read somewhere that the public models don't have all the stats and data points that the teams have. The NHL only releases all of the data and stats to the individual teams so I think they have a better internal models than the public ones. So while the public stats as a whole have fairly accurate predictions, they are missing a some data that is not available to them.

I think it's funny that one concern was the Blues only having 4 goal scorers through 5 games and we essentially doubled it in one game to now have 8 goal scorers in the series lol
