Avs fan here. I wanted to come over and say that I am happy we got to watch this series with a lot of really chill people. Arizona didn't look good this series but Game 2 should be encouraging. I hope the offseason is kind to you all and to your team. Thanks for being one of the more chill fanbases in sports I've interacted with over my 30+ years of being a sports fan.

Everyone stay safe. Sorry to post on the board so soon after elimination. Didn't want to seem like I was invading the board.

Hall didn’t show me enough to warrant giving a huge contract either. Let’s give him $8 million plus and watch him regress to scoring 14 goals and 43 points like every other player that ever plays for us. Yeah great

We have no ill will towards a beautifully built team that played well, no worries.

Nobody looks good under Tocchet. Literally no one. Not even grinders that should. It's garbage hockey.

If ownership can't come to that shockingly obvious conclusion then I have no reason to support the org. moving forward.

Every team has bad games where they get blown out, but I can't remember it happening back to back in the playoffs

It would have been 4 out of 5 games if not for Kuemps, he even won one of them (gm3). I honestly think this was the worst playoff mismatch I have ever seen (that is saying a lot, I watch a lot of hockey). Where do you go from here? Honestly don't know. Curious to hear ownership's response to this, that'll say more about their ability to build a winner here in AZ

Hey I did some digging.

Players by salary cap hit (Avs in bold):

Rantanen - 9.25m
OEL - 8.25
Keller - 7.15 (when extension kicks in)
Kessel - 6.8
Stepan - 6.5
MacK - 6.3
Erik Johnson - 6

Schmaltz - 5.85
Landeskog - 5.571
Goligoski - 5.475
Hammer - 5
Soda - 4.75
Chychrun - 4.6
Kadri - 4.5
DVo 4.45

Overpayment after overpayment. It isn't JUST the coaching guys

Landeskog's deal was signed in 2014. His previous 3 seasons combined, he would have averaged 55 points, just like Keller. I think that you have only proven that, just like Colorado did, you want to lock up a player for as long as possible with dollars that represent what they will climb to.

Inflation is a real thing, too. What is typical inflation on contracts each year? Something like 4 or 5%? So, if Landeskog were to sign that deal this year, wouldn't that inflation bring it right to around Keller's number, if counting 6 seasons of inflation?

That's a neat story you spun there. But in reality Landeskog had 52 points in year one, only had 36 games in year 2, and had 65 points in year 3. All of that while showing to be a good two way player. Keller regressed in year two and looked like a deer in the headlights.

I mean kind of, but not really. If ALL of your players are overpaid that's a pattern. For instance Koneckny in PHI signed long term for 5.5m at the same time Keller signed his massive extension, no reason to sign Schmaltz for so much right after we traded for him etc.

Also we picked up some guys in trades, but it's still horrible cap mgmt. A guy like Stepan you know would never be worth 6.5, no way we should trade a 7OA and Tony D for Step and Raanta. Too much of a package for a terrible contract.

Oh look another goal -- JT Compher's making 3.5m, he's paid less than 4 of our centers (Stepan, Schmaltz, Soderberg, DVo)

Konecny's stat line for the three prior seasons put him at an average of 12 points fewer than Keller per season. Also, I think that we need to be realistic about what the expectation is. Philadelphia signed Konecny for 6 years. We signed Keller for 8. When getting a player between the ages of 22 and 28 or 22 and 30, I would expect to pay a little more AAV for the longer deal, as you are likely getting that player before hitting a significant downside.

Compher wasn't even a pick by Colorado, they got him via trade. He has put up about 30 points per season. Term is important. If signing him for 6 or 7 years, as opposed to 4 years, that contract will be bigger. Maybe $4.75 or 5 M per year, which looks a lot like Dvorak's deal. Funny how these really don't look all that misleading for the younger guys....

Colorado also has a good coach. Funny how the longer Landeskog spent with Bednar, he improved. The longer Keller has stayed with Tocchet.... yikes.

The 36 games in year 2 were accounted for. That is extrapolated across 82 games, which is how both Keller and Landeskog managed to have the same production average across three seasons. Even in an injured season, maybe that was just a bad year, in general. Normally a 0.6 or 0.7 ppg player, he was at 0.5. All that I was saying that if you start from what Landeskog was given, and account for the inflation that has been seen, the contracts aren't far off. 14-15 season was $69 M for cap. Now $81.5 M. That is an 18.11% increase. That's $6.6 M in today's market, and for two fewer years.

We've got to be more vocal on the Coyotes Twitter to get some sort of protest happening so that we can get rid of Tocchet.

Someone has to be held accountable for this debacle and as far as I know he's running the ship. Walk the f'ing plank you piece of shite worthless coach!
Should we start a #firetocchet #newcoachingstaff #coyotessystemloses to all posts? I have no following but I'll jump on a Twitter train to show management we expect action.

Does Keller even care about hockey? Whenever I hear him talk, or he gets asked questions about it he sounds like he's annoyed talking hockey. And not in a Kessel way either. But he got his contract so why should he care?
