That guy doesn't make sense with his assessment. Desharnais has never been billed as a Chris Pronger like physically punishing Dman so I don't know what he expected. Lots of stay at home Dmen especially in this modern era are more quietly physical, they use stickwork and positioning and in Desharnais's case use their size and wingspan to close off the opponent. He's been great in this respect. Kind of like a lesser version of Ekholm.

He's had some hiccups with the puck but in terms of defending his position, he's been as solid as can be. It's baffling that anybody would trash him just because he's not erasing guys on the regular. I mean, who even does that anymore anyway?
Agreed with all. I think we're getting as much from Desharnais as anybody could expect. The guy making it just to the show is a fantastic success story. But Desharnais knows its a gift to be here. that he got here, and he knows the window is limited and he can't be taking stupid penalties. Thats the line.

I'll say this. Desharnais does himself no favors beaking off like he did at end of game to officials and anybody. For sure that will be noted and Desharnais will get zero get out of jail cards tonight. desharnais will get a penalty for sneezing tonight. Officials are often like that. They share notes too.

I just don't know how guys can play organized sport with officials and not know theres a line that you don't cross. Not blaming Desharnais, its how he's wired. But he crossed the line, backed over it, and ate it. The Kings saw it too. Loose cannon. Never show that card in playoff round. Especially in game 1. Opponent teams can target that and turn the fire into a liability. Its likely that every King will be hand washing Desharnais tonight in scrimmages. Watch for it. Anything to get him off his game. Thats the game within the game. Kings know how to play that game.

Its a bad feel but at present Kane is with Drai because McD wasn't presently enamored with the idea. This far into career its not my favorite look that McD picks linemates. I really feel he does. Drai gets whats left.

Which is strange because anytime Kane is on a heater McD would want him. Its like clockwork with the club. Anytime a player needs a reset they're dropped to Drai. Shit needs to stop. Put the guys together based on what is working and how the players work off of each other. Normally I'd be more than fine to see Kane with Drai, I like the big dawgs, but Kane has expected hands problems since the wrist injury. Its harder for him to cycle and protect and work puck well now. The cycle is off with Kane now. Then its Yamamoto. Ouch.

Whenever possible Drai is feeding his D. Or just putting the puck in spaces. Drai is a marvel in that he's not having a lot to work with currently and still producing like a charm.

I mean maybe that's the case, maybe it's not, but Drai has been fantastic for over a month now playing with Kane and Yams (including in Game 1). Nuge-McDavid-Hyman on the other hand hasn't quite worked as hoped. So regardless of why the lines were setup as they are, it seems like an odd time to be complaining about the linemates Drai gets. I understand that you're not the biggest (no pun intended) fan of Yams, but that line has clicked far better than McDavid's has.

I don't even like baked Yams. There, I said it!

Why are all these cats speaking to me. Its all weird and stuff. heh

The issue with him is, from my viewings, he is not a physical or scary defenceman. He is a guy the other team is licking their chops at playing against because they know they'll get a few opportunities against him to really get a scoring chance by skating by him. He is not hurting anybody. He's the ultimate fake tough guy. Biggest guy on the ice but you'd never know it going off the stats pages.

I assure you nobody on the Kings sees him as anything but a cookie ticket. In game 3 their game plan will be getting Kopiitar and Kempe out against him as much as possible to exploit how incapable he is. At least we see Nurse and Kostin really throwing their body around trying to hurt people in the first period. Where's Desharnais at any point in that game? Utter failure all around but this is nothing new for him. He has never been a physical player.
Typical Duul take.

Now I'd be a little more worried if he was showing up to games baked...
Bare, or Bear with me, I'm on painkillers and I feel baked. heh

i hardly ever take painkillers. but man, foot swollen up so bad can hardly walk. I feel like I can float a bit though.

I'm gonna be random like this all day. jebus
I can't even drink anything to watch the game because I don't combine, and I'd be going into orbit..

I agree, but why does that mean we should be thankful he is playing for us? He doesn't make any other team in the playoffs except for ours. He is lucky we have the worst RD selection in the entire NHL or he would have never made the show.

Good for him to getting some games in, but he is hindering our chances of winning a hockey game. He doesn't get minutes in LA, so the people defending him en masse for being 'steady' (which he isn't) is absurd.

This guy does not play the game of hockey well. He is not athletically gifted, he has no hands, he can't shoot the puck. He does nothing to contribute to a win in the league aside from doing what anyone on earth could do which is trying to get in front of pucks. He is Kris Russell with SOMEHOW far worse offensive capability. He uses his body less than Russell did as well.

I can not understand why so many people are backing this guy. A feel good story? A big body? Someone explain it to me. Ceci is horrible yet is 10x the player.

Oil players knowing that 6/8 teams blew their 1st home playoff game may help them. I think they are already strong mentally but I think this helps them a lot. Always easier when you know other teams are going through the same adversity and your not an anomaly. It's a series and it happens. Might be more beneficial to our younger players who don't have that playoff experience.

Desperate times require desperate measures.

I would just ice 3 centers going forward like the Pens did with Crosby, Malkin and Staal.

If we have the strength down the middle, why not use it more. Let Nuge, Connor and Drai put more pressure on the Kings. Scratch Yamamoto and promote Kostin and McLeod to the top six or think about bringing back Holloway.

Play a smart heavy game.

Scratch Vinny and bring Broberg…

Especially with how they dominated the game at first, just keep that up! It's not like they dropped the ball as hard as Toronto, The Avs and Knights did. hahaha Toronto and the :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:ing Av's fans, their misery gives me pleasure.

I'm happy its not Murray or Demers playing. Hows that?

obviously Desharnais is fill. Fill, not landfill. ;)

but he's the best org D fill option at the moment That said I still dress Broberg and give him some mins.

The biggest mistake that Holland made at the deadline was not addressing the depth on RD. Even just getting a cheap veteran could help if Desharnais can't handle the games.

I think he is learning the wrong lessons from Kane. Kane seems really close with alot of the guys and I feel like his hotheaded behavior too is a bad example for the young guys.
Take your penalty, go to the box, make them pay the moment you get out. Being a hot head, getting fumed up just leads to the refs keeping a closer eye on you and calling more and has the other team targetting you to get you going. Happens to Kane all the time.
There's reaching, then there's whatever this is...
