Honestly, the defense played pretty well. Some guys got overwhelmed like Kindl, he can't make a pass in the offensive zone, but like DD on Getzlaf, he kept him to the outside but Howard still **** the bed. It was Emmerton not clearing that led to another goal.

Just ******** that they tied it up, but can't say I'm surprised.

When you score 4 you're supposed to win. Howard not being able to stop a beachball is why this is going to overtime. Detroit also could have used a timeout to settle things down the stretch. And not have Emmerton and Eaves on the ice with 2 minutes remaining.

I've been backing up Howard non-stop since his contract, but he's proven me wrong tonight. You can see how timid he is. He's sitting way back in the crease and just praying the puck hits him.

One of the 3 goals were pretty weak, but honestly the Wings failed to clear it or coughed it up on the outlet at least a dozen times in the 3rd... not to mention Quincey running around like an idiot every time he's on the ice.

of course it wasn't all howard's fault, even if he did make a big contribution to chucking the lead away. the whole team was playing with a real panic in their game. datsyuk looked calm, nobody else did. the d was particularly nervy, and with guys like de keyser, kindl and smith, that's not overly surprising. hopefully they'll all learn from it, which isn't much consolation right now.

anyway, the match isn't done yet, but if it wasn't already, it really has become pretty much must-win now. let's go red wings!!
