You don't think losing Drew Doughty for a game would be that big of a loss? It's basically the same impact.

Would be ginormous. I think Chicago is better equipped on the back end to deal with it though. I think it is more along the same of us loosing Richards, or how we lost Kopitar two years ago.
The team played well without kopitar in the short term. Some guys really stood up.
Book is still out on Richards

Skated for 15 minutes yesterday. Probably the earliest we'll see him is either game 6 or 7 if the series goes that long. Protocol for 1 week symptom free when it comes to concussions.

Thanks, thought he would be cleared to play today. Well, at least he is already skating.

Win please.

This JGifff gets me every time

Hoping the Kings pretend Keith is in the lineup and come out blowing everyone up. GKG, 3-0 Kings!

From this morning's practice, no surprises, Sutter keeping it the same. Except MR will take the ice with the Black Aces after the regulars leave.

Dan Rosen ‏@drosennhl 14m Mike Richards is not on the ice for the Kings morning skate. Same lines and D pairs as Game 3. No changes anywhere.

OT- Full props to Greg Campbell for playing over 1 minute on the ice last night Killing a penalty with a broken leg. You gotta love hockey playoff warriors.

OT 2 - Breaking....#stlblues forward Andy McDonald retires because of post-concussion concerns http://www.truehockey.com/articles/Post-Concussion-Concerns-Lead-to-Andy-McDonald-Retirement

That's a shame...maybe the NHL needs to looks at shoulder pads athat aren't made of armor. They need to do someting, too many head injuries. Best of luck to him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Richards an/or Stoll retired early due to concussions. Both have had multiple over the years.

I really hate head injuries. There has to be a way stop them without hurting the game. I can't stand to see young guys' careers ended because of this ****.

Richards has been lucky in that regard, considering how physical he plays. He missed about 5 games in 2007 with one and then 8 games last Dec. This would be his 3rd, and doesn't appear to be as bad as the one last year. Given he's usually the smallest player in the mix, and getting hit by bigger players, and usually is fearless in that he never thinks about that, just goes forthe puck in the corner, etc, he's been lucky that he's not had more.

Look at a kid like Jeff Skinner, just turned 21 and he has had 2 pretty serious concussions in his first 3 years. That's scary.

Glad to hear he is skating with the black aces. The update on Richards at the Insider site made it sound like he wouldn't skate at all which worried me it might mean a setback.

Go Kings! Score 3 goals!

I think they should send Richardson over to the Blackhawks bench and have him crawl under the bench and tie all the Blackhawks players' skates together.

He'd never be able to make it past Shaw...I bet there's a hole in the ground/boards from the constant spearing practice

The protocol is 7 days right? So if they force a game 6 then that would probably be the earliest he could play.

Happened Saturday right? So would it not be game 5?

Yeah but that would be exactly seven days at that point. I guess they could do it but it might be a stretch. Once again I'm annoyed we played back to back games.

My guess is if they win tonight, they will shoot for game 6, but if not I think Mike will push to come back for game 5.

I'm not sure where you are getting this, but according to Sutter, he didn't skate at all, and they are following protocol.

Not sure what you mean by 'getting this'. The team is following proper protocal and he didn't skate with the team today, he's not playing so he wouldn't skate.
He did skate 20 minutes yesterday 'light to moderate' with the black aces, who were on the ice, the Kings didn't practice.
Sutter knows Richards isn't playing today, so he wouldn't be practicing.
If the Kings win today and force a game 6, it's possible that after that week passes, it's possible he'll be able to practice with the team Sunday or MOnday .

Jon Rosen ‏@lakingsinsider

Sutter, on Richards: "He didn't skate today, so he won't play tonight."

Mind you, a few days ago he said Richards was fine so...

Are you saying that an NHL team lies about injuries? :amazed:

:sarcasm:

I sure would like to know why this league is so secretive about injuries. I see no motivation to keep these things so secret.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other major pro sports league that hides its players' injuries. MLB, NFL, and NBA all readily report specifics about a player injury and even project playing-return times.

Because other teams would certainly target injured areas on players.

I love how all the media talk is about Keith being out and what a big loss that is for the Hawks....but nobody seems to mention that we've been playing without Richards.
