Bad call my ass. It was the right call. Towes went in on his own and pushed Quick right off the post where it went in.

yes. Since the first replay I was yelling at tv for incidental contact. I have no idea how the announcers could not even consider this. I could see them letting the goal stand, but at a MINIMUM that is potentially going to get waved off. Had he not have someone dive on him he would likely have been able to hold that post with his skate.

They didn't make the call from the replay. The refs all got together after the puck went in immediately.

The review was whether the puck went in, which they always do even if the call is going to be incidental contact.

Basically, the refs get together and talk about the goal. Meanwhile Toronto calls to let them know it went in. This happened with the Kings during the season as well and it was confusing because of the order of operations.

Richards looking good tonight, too bad he's got Clifford and King with him.

the broadcast didn't seem to be clear why the refs were meeting, which is probably why people are assuming that the blackhawks got screwed because there supposedly was not a call made

If it was a cleaner reception of the pass, Clifford gets the one-timer, but there's that moment of hesitation reaching out to get the puck that gives Crawford enough time to get over.

Right. Forgot which game it was, but it happened with the Kings during this season and I remember Fox explaining that seeing a ref on the phone isn't necessarily because the refs on the ice are reviewing it, but because Toronto called them to let them know what they saw which was if the puck went in. The refs only signaled that puck was in, but the discussion is the call on the ice which wasn't shared until after they talked to Toronto.
