Gagne has been as good as any.
In the last 2 games he was, but overall on the tourney he wasn't one of our top 3. Redden should have been #3.

Congrats to Canada, job well done. fort defended in two periods where Russia dominated looking to even the score. well done, Marty, you are the MVP of the tourney so far.

Good luck in the Finals!

What a game. Martin Brodeur, what a goaltender. He is an absolute big-game goalie. Major props to him. I was nervous after he looked a little awkward in the closing minutes, but he came through.

Hats off to the Russians. They ran out of time. This game reminded me a lot of the USA-Russia game at Salt Lake in 2002. USA jumped out to an early lead, and then Russia fought the entire game, only to run out of time. Hats off again. You guys have some major stars that will carry your team in the years to come.

When have Canadians been gloating around here? I really don't understand the Europeans around here, very resentful and overly sensistive.

you are right. Canadians are never whining or taking shots at other countries. My bad. It's true that the canadians are the classiest fans in the world. Well done Canada, you deserved to win with that fantasitc glaoe of yours. Good luck tomorrow

Lucky? Not really. Canada owned the Russians so thoroughly in the first period it could have been 6 or 7-zip before Russia got a sniff of a goal. I have no idea why Canada abandoned the pressure game, exploiting the Russians' weaknesses in goal and on defence, and started playing to their strength -- all those brilliant forwards.
You've gotta love the IIHF. In Canada, not even peewee officials would blow an offside call and take away a vitally important goal.

I am proud of Team Canada...and I have to say....The Russians came on strong. They have a young team and they were awaesom today...suprising that this supposedly weak defensive Russian team shut down #61...his goal streak is over.
To be fair, Canada is nothing but 25 year olds for the most part.

Awwww I'm so feeling the love between Russia and Canada, nice to see some mutual respect for each others teams!

Well done everyone.

Hey, it's the greatest rivalry in hockey. There's nothing like a Canada-Russia game.

Seriously now : will Canada ever lose an elimination game? I mean if you look at what happened at the World Cup, the Czechs totally outplayed Canada, outshot them like 40-20, and Canada was still victorious. Today, the Russians outplayed Canada for 2 periods, the shot count is also significant, but Canada is still on top.

I really don't understand that ... at some point I thought it was luck, but the more Canada wins those tight 1 goal games, the more I'm inclined to think that it's something other than luck.

Intresting.

I don't know. Canada-USA games are pretty intense. Then there's USA-Russia.

Czech Republic - Slovakia and Sweden - Finland are stronger rivalries if you look at more than just the hockey. And it's just because it's alot more than just hockey involved. Like half a millennia of history..

Congrats Canada, First period was almost flawless, the rest well?

Thanks Russia for not giving up and making a game out of it.

Canada was lucky but it had more to do with their own stupidity then anything else. This should have been a rout. It was certainly headed that way until Canada (Habscheid?) decided to sit back and let Russia attack. Sokolov looked like he couldn't stop a beach ball and they him off the hook completely.

I think that's the reason why Hockey Canada likes to pick players who have big game experience, either in the NHL or international hockey. Having a championship is almost a requirement to play for Canada, and as we can see it pays off.

I was telling people that Canada gets into games where it probably doesn't deserve to win, but they always find a way to win. It's the championship experience they have that carries them through.

Best D-Man the real Markov -- Andrei, put that in your pipe and smoke it leaf fan.

I can't believe your so critical of players who get called for diving, when your little ***** "Tucker" does it every frickin game. Don't bash the Habs players, we only have 1 loser diver(Riberio) and Gainey has fixed him for good after that playoff game with a 2 hour meeting. Gainey will NOT put up with that behavior. He is a real GM not Jr. over there who happended to make a Ballard screw up and tie up all those old farts to contracts going into a lockout. :shakehead

Habs youth vs. Leaf Geriatric gang coming soon to a rink near you!!

There isn't the history, though, between those countries like there is being Canada and Russia.
