This was way too easy. The finns must have been doing laps and lifting weights all day long before this, or they simply threw the game. :shakehead

excellent game by Sweden.
Kronwall
Sundin
Norström
Hedström
Lundqvist
PÃ¥hlsson
Jönsson
Zetterberg

... where the stand outs on the Swedish team IMO, although quite a few did a good job.

Poorly executed game by the finns and somewhat suspect goaltending did not help either. The top line was pretty much invisible. Personally I would have like to see more of Jussi J.

Good game Sweden. :handclap: :handclap:

Now can someone explain this....does Sweden play the winner or loser of tomorrows US vs Canada game?

Sweden will play the winner of group B first on Saturday (the group where both Canada and the US play), and will play the other team on Sunday.

Great game today by Sweden, hard to believe that this is the same team that struggled against Ukraine the other day.

Sweden 5 - 1 Finland

Shameful showing from Team Finland. I don't remember the last time they've played such an outrageously awful game. Not even that game against Sweden. This game actually reminded me of some of the games against the good old CCCP.

Goaltending was horrible, defence was horrible, passing was horrible, puck control was horrible, we took too many stupid penalties and the referee was horrible (allowed ****loads of hooking, which gave advantage to Sweden). Only Finnish player who gets pardon from me is Jussi Jokinen. He was the only guy in our team that wasn't panicking all the time. When he got icetime he actually managed to keep and pass the puck and create a couple of good scoring chances.

Sweden played a good game. They kept their game simple and their heads cool, and that was enough today. Lundqvist was very good and clearly outplayed his "teacher" Norrena.

To sum up:

We sucked from five min on.

Swedes have good special teams, our PP is god awful. Half of this game was played with either team short-handed, you do the math.

Kronval is damn good.

Norrena won't play in this tournament. Jussi Jokinen will.

Two words next time our Russian friends ***** about refs: Vyacheslav Bulanov.

Not in the official ticker, might change :dunno:
I dunno who she( lady in avatar) is but she's most definately Sweden's most valuable natural resource.

I am utterly embarrassed... I feel like puking.... maybe the leijonat should just pack their bags and go home, then ocme abck when they're ready to actually play hockey

Sounds like the "other" Jokinen was the only one who decided to show up for the Finns.....about how much icetime did he manage to get today?

Jeez, what the hell happened? This isn't the Finland I'm used to seeing (Of course I didn't actually see the game, but still). Yes, Finland is minus Koivu, Lehtinen, Selanne, and Numminen, but this is no excuse. They still had the talent to compete with Sweden. Based on what I've been reading, Finland lost because of poor execution and sloppy play. Maybe they need Raimo Summonen back as coach?

the 5th goal by sweden was horrendus. what was norrena doing out of the net so long?

re:

This was a total embarrasment for Finland. Swedes looked like a team is destined to win the gold in this tournament. I think that they really turned it on for this game and it showed.. All the respect to Sweden for playing an excellent game and for making the Finns look like the Washington Generals against the Harlem Globe Trotters. Lundqvist looked great. Norrena not so great.
If you look back to my post a few days ago (can't remember where it is) I predicted that if Finland puts Norrena against the Swedes, well... we would lose. And unfortunately I was right. That being said, I think that Finland will come back re-energized with Backstrom as the #1 goalie for the rest of the tournament.
Expect a lot more from Finland in the coming games.

:hockey:

Sweden looks very good team now when they don´t have that Hardy ruining everything there. Finland looked really bad at this game, but it was Swedes superiority which maked Finland look bad. I hope that Bäckström will play the rest of games, Norrena is not enough for this kind of games.
