Loved how he always played with his heart on his sleeve. He was at the tailend in Toronto, but always appreciated what he brought to the lineup.

I always had that "I hate this guy but would love him on the Devils" feeling when he played in Philly all those years, so it was especially sweet when he did come to the Devils and I got to troll my wife and all her Flyers fan family about it. I almost bought one of his Devils game used jerseys for $750 just to wear to all future Flyers games, but it was too steep a price even for a good troll job.

Great career! He was so tough and strong. Battled as hard as anyone in front of the net, and always stuck up for his teammates.

As a Flyers fan, I loved Wayne. I don’t know how he did it on those stick legs of his, but he did. The kind of guy you can be proud to have wear your team’s colors. Sadly, when the end came, it came fast. He went chasing a cup in Toronto… probably not the best place to chase one, because he deserved one... or ten

Loved his game- even though he never played for my team.

Best wishes in “no longer having an NHL contract”!

Loved him when he came into the league on the Kings, despite being a King. A true heart and soul player.

Best of luck, Simmer! That dude was strong as hell on his skates.

Him and Volchenkov had some really big hits on each other back in the day lol
