The player I would be questioning if he translates as a high level NHL’er is Leonard. He’s the one who consistently has lower point totals of the three.
That being said Perreault's game is really warming me up he looks like he will be an excellent NHLer and might be the early best value pick in the first round from that draft but time will tell.

This thread will be hilariously terrible to look back on
Of course it will as most of these guys aren't in the NHL yet and a lot are still developing, injuries and confidence and opportunities are all different.

You can take the best hockey minds one year out from a draft and their list won't look all that great 5 years later.

i didn't stutter, nor did i miss many London games. Ask any London fan who their best player was. Bonk was hands down the best defensive player while being over PPG as a D
That's great but in a thread about a 23 draft redraft I'm not confident that Bonk's offense translates to the NHL as a star player.

Cowan really drove the bus last year in London, although he had a great supporting cast to be sure.

Perreault looks like Kucherov-lite. That's what I see when I watch him play hockey.

People will go crazy about that, and I'm obviously not expecting him to be one of the best players of the next generation, but if Perreault hits like 90-100 points his best years because he's stupid skilled, smart, and can see amazing passes, this stuff has been completely obvious the last few years and people underestimated him because he's like very barely undersized and his skating is slightly wonky, along with being a winger who is average, at best, defensively.

Top 4 are pretty much set. Everything after that is a pissing contest amongst fanbases. Ill do a top 10.

1. Bedard
2. Michkov
3. Carlsson
4. Fantilli
5. Reinbacher
6. Smith
7. Benson
8. Honzek
9. Dvorsky
10. Leonard
I agree on 3 and 4
But imo I see no reason to put Bedard ahead of Michkov at this point, just because he played in the NHL last year.
Both are exceptional players. Smaller guys, different play style. Only time will tell, who is better. I would actually bet on Michkov. But it will be very close.

From position 5 I have absolutely no clue and it is way to early to guess.

Sorry but Bedard is ahead of Michkov until proven otherwise.

Bedard didn't just play in the NHL last year he excelled in a really poor situation.

With a few more of these top picks about to come into the league, understanding how deep this year is, where should they be picked in a redraft now?

I like the thread. There is stil plenty of speculation for these guys. The first 3 for me are easy, but after that, 7-13 are really hard to narrow down. There are a lot of good prospects that are having great seasons. Benson is already an NHLer, Perreault is dominating in the NCAA, Reinbacher isn't having the season we hoped for, and there are a few Russian players that are getting lesser minutes in the KHL.

4. Michkov
5. Smith
6. Leonard
7. Perreault
8. Reinbacher
9. Willander
10. Benson
11. But
12. Gulyayev
13. Dvorsky

I have think Willander has been the best Dman drafted so far. Reinbacher was such a safe boring pick and hasn't done anything to justify being picked over Tom.

I said it at the time that because of the fact Willander had only been a Dman for a couple of years his progression would be huge and the U18's was the start of it and he's continued to develop more than the guys that have been playing D for years.

I started pitching at 15 after realizing I wasn't gonna get to college with my bat and as a lefty I figured I'd try pitching.
Long story short I threw like 70 MPH got cut from the top team in my area at the time but by the time I was 17 I started catching up and was at 84-86 MPH and a scout from an SEC team that was scouting a teammate who played for the Canadian national team heard I'd only been pitching for a few years figured I'd have another big jump. That's how I felt about Willander and he's had huge growth since his draft.

I really think three years from now Willander may work his way into top five territory in a very good draft, higher in other drafts that didn't have the top end studs like in 2023.
He's got everything a #1 Dman today needs, speed, size, skating, IQ, his defensive game is already very good, if his offense continues to trend up, watch out.

I agree with this and if (what I think management envisions) Willander is paired with Hughes will be huge for him as Hughes has in the past made the Bear's, Schenn's etc look better than they are. Coming into the NHL and being paired with Hughes would be phenomenal for his progression going forward. I do hope this pairing works out as then Hronek and M. Pettersson is a solid second pair.

Well said. Prior to the draft, I had Reinbacher as the #1 because he had (I had him 7th oa) looked good at the highest levels of play with a really nice frame and other physical attributes.

Willander I had 9th oa at the draft with Daniil But sandwiched in between them. Willander was a tough evaluation because there were a few other players playing at higher competitive levels getting drafted much later. I really loved his skating and poise. For me, it was those 2 by a landslide, then Gulyayev as a distant 3rd.

right now, its Between Willander and ASL for me. Hard to know what Simashev is doing in a defensive team in the K. and Reinbacher's been hurt all year. Bonk was more impressive last year and Molendyk is good but not a sure thing like the 2 swedes.

Has ASL slowed a bit since the beginning of the year? hard to find game logs in SHL.

Reinbacher has been awesome in the AHL since he is back from injury. Hasn’t missed a step at all.

Haven't heard about ASL missing time, but I'd put him in the same category as Willander and Reinbacher in redraft rankings.

I was very anti-Simashev in 2023 (had him in the 20's) and didn't think ASL would translate his game to the pro's that well. Right now, my take on ASL looks wrong. ASL looks very good in the SWEHL and his skating will likely take him far in the NHL.
