Olympics:

Modern Pentathlon: combination of fencing (one-touch épée), freestyle swimming(200 m), equestrian show jumping (15 jumps), and a final combined event of pistol shooting and cross country running.

Wtf, lol?

And yes TRPF, I'm now aware that it's been in existence as an Olympic sport since 1912 and that it's patterned on events representing the skills needed by infantry behind enemy lines, lol.

Has anyone ever seen this Mountain Monsters show? Bunch of fat hillbillies running around the woods at night looking for Bigfoot-type creatures. It's hilarious, 10/10 would recommend.

I've been watching the fireworks in the TDA thread. Hell of a show, much better plot than the last season of Game of Thrones

Just caught up on that one. Holy shit. That's all I'm going to say about that.

As for this topic, Malcolm in the Middle. Our lives are a gong show right now, so a little mindless comedy helps. I do want to work my way through Ozark at some point. I watched most of season 1 and was really into it, but I guess I got distracted because I haven't kept up with it.

We're pretty similar. I think I'm on season 2 of Ozark, and I like it a lot, but I jump around to other things a lot. And I've watched a couple seasons of Malcolm in the last couple months at times I've wanted something mindless.

I also just finished another rewatch of Breaking Bad, cause that fits in well with Malcolm.

Same. About to watch another s4 episode right now. (s4 in the UK is, oddly, the "second set" of ten eps on Netflix. Why they always put things out of order I'll never understand.)

The New York Islanders are apparently a major sponsor for her, so there is a small hockey connection here. This girl is such an inspiration in so many ways that I have to share this with you guys. I always watch something like this and think to myself, "What am I complaining about?"

Have you seen the Chinese 14 year old diver? She is doing the 10m platform and making perfect dives. Her last dive was so f***ing perfect that there was negative splash. She pulled everything under with her. Crazy.

Quan Hongchan? Ah, yes. The Chinese divers are incredible to watch if you haven't seen it. My personal favorite dive ever, besides her's, was Chen Aisen's gold-clinching dive in 2016.

Of course, I can just watch Quan over and over again if I want to see literal perfection personified in diving form.

So I saw that Sharknado was on SyFy recently, and it reminded me of the Wild West, “f*** it, let’s make everything” environment that happened after the movie was released.

Because not only did Sharknado happen, and get 3-4 sequels (or however many there were), but SyFy also had Lavalantula and its sequel, 2 Lava 2 Lantula (yes, I cannot believe it either).

I bring all this up because this movie was just recently released:

This movie is not in the same “so bad, it’s good” mindset as the previously mentioned films. It’s just bad. So, so bad.

I bet it's another pen name like Richard Backman with extra layer of plausible deniability. A man's gotta eat.

If you've got Netflix try out "Untold: Crime and Penalties" about the crazy Danbury Trashers of the UHL in the mid-'aughts. Other than playing around with the timeline (they played for two seasons, which is hard to figure out with just a cursory watch, and not all of the players they highlight played together), it's well worth your time. (We also watched the "Breaking Point" ep from the series, about tennis player Mardy Fish and his mental health struggles.)

Someday I'm going to watch that Malice at the Palace documentary, that was such a wild moment for live television. As far as I'm concerned Ben Wallace is to blame for the shannanagins that night, not Ron Artest er, Metta World Peace. Artest did not foul Wallace that hard to warrant a pushback.
