I am a music freak on virtually all genre.....lately I have been listening mostly to post romantic symphonic music of Bruckner and Mahler.

I was in Zurich during 9/11 and went many times to see the Zurich Symphony Orchestra. First night was a few songs by Schubert and the highlight was his Mass in C major. I sat maybe 6 rows back center.
A few nights later they played Mahler's 1st Symphony, I asked for the same seats. The ticket person laughed..... "we have to extend the stage to accommodate 120 players. We had to bring in also the Zurich Youth Orchestra" . Glorious music in such troubled times....

Anyway.......my most beloved symphony in this period is Bruckner's Fifth......4th movement is in certain sections a fugue with a chorale, extremely interesting how he plays off the brass [ not as large as say the 7th, 8th or 9th] against the strings and woodwinds. One of my favorites is Gunther Wand's interpretation. Gunther must have been in his late 80s when he conducted this version.

Overall a more mellow outing for Superchunk, edging back more towards "Here's To Shutting Up" than any of the other albums released after their hiatus. However, being still pretty isolated during Covid for fear of infecting an unvaccinated baby, the pandemic themes in this really hit home. I've been listening to the album every day since it came out. Maybe it's that good or maybe I just need something to hold onto right now.

My favorite song from that album is maybe my favorite Superchunk song overall.

So I went down quite a LMM and Hamilton rabbit hole...found sort of an experimental rap group? whatever genre you wanna call it. It is Daveed Diggs who played Lafayette/Jefferson in Hamilton with two producers who create all kinds of sounds/effects for him to rap to. Very different from what I usually listen to

Yeah clipping is pretty awesome and has a decent following. Daveed Diggs is uber-talented.

He did one on "Hey Soul Sister" but he hates Train too much, so he couldn't get anything coherent out lol. It wasn't nearly as good as the other videos, but it's understandable. Train is the f***ing worst.

I cant even think about Train or that song without abandoning everything i'm doing and going to hit my heavy bag...f***... i'll be right back.

The new Tears For Fears album The Tipping Point is really damn good. They shouldn't still be this good.
