This one really got under my skin when I listened to it last night. Don't you think it has a strange "time signature" (or words to that effect)? It just sounds like it's set to an offbeat pace to me. Great f***ing song.

The original is by far the best of the three IMO. It reminds me of "Ceremony" in the sense that it is such a great song at its base that you could do just about anything with it and it would sound good.

It's a killer song. The tempo is so up-beat in contrast to the nakedly personal lyrics about coming to terms with the implosion of his relationship to the love of his life. Barlow always writes so autobiographically, which is a bit of an oddity in the scene where many of his peers work rather hard at being barely legible, but he always pulls it off - his stuff always resonates.

I think I heard the Superchunk version first, then the Sebadoh version, then the original Sentridoh / Sebadoh. They're all great. It's such a great song. There's a reason Sebadoh is NJFZ's band.

That show in Philly I failed to buy tickets to got move to a bigger venue and sold out again instantly. They were also named XPN's artist to watch for January. Oh and I already pre-ordered their album on Vinyl lol
I don’t get why those venues were booked. They were clearly too small. They probably should be at Union Transfer. I don’t know the sizes of the venues they’ve played, but around here they already seem big. Is 104.5 playing them yet?

I dont listen to 104.5 anymore because its ass but they're all over XPN and the internet. I agree they should be at Union Transfer or the Fillmore.

Oh I don’t either but they like to be tacky and latch on. I remember when they caught on to metric and would never ever stop playing gold guns girls. Heard it twice in an hour and a half once.

If they can find time between their rotation of 5-10 year old songs that no one cares about anymore from artists like

Kings Of Leon
The Killers
Imagine Dragons
And
Twenty One Pilots

Then maybe they'll play it once.

I see on their playlist they have folks like Billie Eilish, who I don’t have a problem with, but just say you’re a pop station.

The latter is one of my faves, but the former doesn't ring bells. Remember, I am dealing with mental deterioration. I will dig.

Jawbreaker is an awesome alternative-punk band from the late 80's/early 90's. Their albums Dear You and 24 Hour Revenge Therapy are both gems. They toured with Nirvana in 1993. Check em out.

The Elvis Costello version is superior...

but as much as many people malign country, and it has became fashionable to do so, especially amongst my "set" of alternative/punk/rock types. Jeez. So many immensely talented artists, especially writers.

Jerry Chesnut was a complete genius. Some of the phrasing, imagery, structure...

"I can hardly bear the sight of lipstick on the cigarettes there in the ashtray
Lyin' cold the way you left 'em, but at least your lips caressed them while you packed"

If Bob Dylan wrote those two lines to open a song people would be raving about them to this day. (and I LOVE Bob Dylan)
