If Young becomes the player he was projected to be then none of this will matter. If he however has another underwhelming season he’ll just be another name on the long list of guys whose careers never took off in Washington.

It always baffles me when former coaches or players didn't adopt this philosophy. If the NFfffingL for cripes sake.... we learned to be crisp in and out of the huddle and to hustle from drill to drill, in pee wee leagues. Feels like EB has sooooo much of the very minimal basics to re-inject into this offense. Makes me wonder why RR isn't already setting that tone with Son of Norv in the first place?

I don't want players who do the bare minimum. No coach does. They'll excuse it to the press but they're not happy.

This. And at least, all world players who consistently show up and dominate, get a hundred times bigger free pass than under achievers coming off injury. Tom Brady gets a pass, Chase Young does not.

Cooley said years ago that there is usually 1 or 2 guys who tore a ligament during the offseason doing "non-football related activities" and they hide it till they get to the first work out .. then just go down during warmups or jogging.

Not saying this is the case here .. but every year there is a guy who tears or injures himself early in the fist workout jogging or walking onto the field.

Every year I look for it and more times then not .. it happens.

I know it’s voluntary but this isn’t a great look for Young given he’s done nothing outside of his rookie year.

Chase just has to produce and prove 90% of Manders fans and our FO wrong.

if he stays healthy ... he is going to ball.

John Riggins used to call that the "old jake-a-leg" But somehow I doubt a torn Achilles could be hidden for long. Bummer for the kid but maybe now Logan Thomas survives the cuts?

I definitely thought Rogers showed some decent flashes so really sucks for him. Hopefully he'll be around another year to see.

Oh please.

For a very, very brief time my brain completely froze over and even though it knew better still tried to cut and paste Chris Paul the point guard into the mix. I have to admit, imagining all these big guys and then teeny tiny Chris Paul just getting tossed after the snap like Ezekiel Elliott made me take a moment to laugh

I'm drinking and this is really the only place I ever even try to talk football so even though it's a little left field, I'm going to ask it because I've really been wondering over the last few years: with the passing game being more protected than ever before and so many pure athletes capable of various positions, is there room in football for the "pass option"? Like... not the RPO but more and more designed hook and ladders, basically.

With so many route varieties and competent ball handlers I really feel like there are a handful of receivers in the league who could probably be trusted to run short routes and then decide based on the play whether to take the yards or hit a trailing player, say the running back, for extra, or anyone whose route has just died in the flat. Doesn't even have to be a loose ball lateral if you're designing for it, and has some potential to really break down zone coverage. Even a few momentum based yards could really swing a game and the uncertainty on the option might make some wrinkles. Run two routes close together and bluff it a little but send one way deep... I feel like if football has another big change in the game it might be up there.

I know it's stupid but I've kind of felt like it's an underutilized facet of the game and if rugby players can do it, football players can learn

I mean, in seriousness, RedWolves with the old colors (actual Burgundy and Gold) and the old fight song with slightly modified lyrics, would work well for me. The old curly R still works, the logo with an angry Red Wolf on it, tons of fan images created during the rebranding that were really well done.

I recall the Snyder mouthpieces saying that Red Wolves could not be used because of the Minnesota Timberwolves and I immediately though, that's the most incompetent set of lawyers I've ever seen.

I have seen nothing to suggest this is true. Even watching him his rookie season his big plays appeared (to my eyes) taking advantage of missed blocks/broken plays rather than the ability to dominate linemen. His second year before the injury was no fluke, mediocre linemen (even backups) were dominating him in the pass game. My guess is the word was “all you need to do is …, he’s got nothing else”. Athleticism is more than straightaway speed. Not impressed by his acceleration, balance, and bend (low to the ground) around tackles. He’s not a guy that can just go out and dominate on raw ability, contrary to the hype he came in with. He needed to have a great work ethic and humility to get there, and sadly he lacks those traits.

They really should trade him. In camp. Once proven healthy. Some team will think they can “unlock” his talents to make him a stud.

And candidly, they may be correct. That they can, and dipshits anonymous can’t.

Take a 2nd next year and run. Resign Sweat, and off we go
