Yeah I’m a hater just like Griffins first wife who Griffin dumped 7 months after she gave birth to his child for a FSU track star.

Griffin is a D-bag and that’s a fact you cannot dispute no matter how hard you try.

Not the people of NOVA just the infrastructure.
Ok somewhat mollified, heh.

Not sure if you are referring to infrastructure in genernal or specific to where a potential staduim could be built. But the Loudon site was the only one that made sense being on the toll road and a hot skip and a jump to the silver line heavy rail.

Going west out 66W yeah totally sucks no way around that in whatever context. I would tell people in my company relocating to our NOVA regional office to not have a commute coming from out that way.

Worst uniforms in the league. Maybe 1a/1b with the rams. All 3 cumhanders jerseys look like they belong to different teams, no coherent pattern that links them. The 3rd black jersey is the best they got and it's basically a Steelers rip off.
Colts, browns, cards are all definitely worse just to name a few. True the whites dont mesh, but the burgundy matte helmets are clean. Redo the whites and scrap the blacks completely for something else imo

No. Don’t give them any kudos in what is/was a terribly done rebrand.

Not only did they do a completely shitty job on the name. They did an even shittier job on the uniforms.

Washington = Burgundy and GOLD. GOLD. I will say it again. GOLD.

Where in these moronic uniforms did they really show the Gold? I don’t want some stupid emblem or whatever. It’s a quagmire.

Go back to the old uniform colour schemes. Yellow/gold pants with Burgundy uni’s. Or if need be, large gold stripes on the white pants.

And white unis with burgundy pants and yellow/gold stripes. The actual “old” home uniforms.

This new shit just sucks my balls. In almost EVERY way.

Prefer Football Club over Team. Just sounds better to me. "Football Team" would also be going back to Snyder. Though I guess using "Football" could be seen as a Snyder connection. Trash the uniforms as well. Aside from being terrible, Tanya helped with the designs.

Need to wipe the slate clean.

I hate the uniforms as well.

I complete rebrand to wash the bad Snyder taste out of our mouths.
This is where I am at. I’m down with a name change back to WTF to erase the Snyder era out of existence as much as possible. But back to WTF is not possible I’d prefer they keep Commanders. It sucks but I fail to see an alternative that doesn’t suck as well unless it’s Warriors and that won’t happen for a number of reasons.

Infrastructure in general. For the longest it was because of the constant construction upgrading infrastructure but now that construction is done it’s what was created.

The mixing bowl area is crazy. When I was a kid we had those plastic race tracks for our matchbox cars with loops and ramps going everywhere. Great fun. That’s what the mixing bowl area reminds me of. Ramps going in different directions. Confusing at first to me but I figured most out. But that doesn’t matter because other drivers are clearly confused by it so I’m constantly dodging people trying to make exits at the last minute. I drove it this past weekend. Had to go to west Springfield high for a basketball tournament.

The VA side of the Woodrow Wilson bridge is still a shit show even with thru and local lanes. The Dulles toll road, why is it a toll road? 66 should be changed to 666. Then the smaller highways and connectors have so many strip malls and other stuff on them you get caught in what seems like 10 traffic lights to go 3 miles.

Having said all that, I know my side in Maryland isn’t much better but it’s my side. I know it. I know what road to take depending on the time of day and I know all the nooks and cranny’s to get around somewhat efficiently. I don’t have that same familiarity with NOVA.

And now my side will be a shit show in the future with construction for the coming of express lanes on the beltway to match NOVA. Which also means the American Legion bridge will need to be widened or replaced effectively closing off the northern route around DC to get to a NOVA stadium for probably eternity. That means south over the WWB or threw DC to get to a game. Not happening. So, yeah, not a fan.

I’ve lived in NoVa for a decade but inside the 395 triangle. Anywhere outside is a cesspool. Taking it down 95 or out to Dulles might as well mean it’s in a different state. I think Arlington/Old Town need a different name than NoVa. Arlington-Alexandria have nothing in common with Leesburg, Chantilly, Centerville, Sterling, Ashburn, Reston etc.

Maryland also sucks ass. Grew up there and always feared “crossing the river” but 495/95 is the worst stretch of road on the planet. Took me 2.5 hours once to get from DC to FedEx Field. Trying to get anywhere after 3:30 on a weekday is awful and 95N on Saturdays is always a parking lot. I’d definitely say from my experience that MD is worse than VA in traffic and this is from someone who lived in MD for 20 years.

For me it’s RFK then National Harbor in terms of ideal locations. Putting it anywhere in VA would be shit.

Because these

were not burgundy and gold.

By all means, go back to the top one, it looks far better

I'm in Bethesda now but grew up in fairfax county. 495 is hell on earth, especially right when you cross into maryland. Then they added the ridiculous tolls on 66 and the more recent construction on GW parkway that's slated to last through late 2025, might as well only take the metro to get into/out of DC and arlington from here on out. And that comes with it's own headaches

I'd love it if they went back to the real burgundy and gold. I've always hated the ketchup and mustard look, it's just a terrible color combination.

The beltway isn’t as bad as it’s been, in my experience, thanks to a lot of federal workers still on COVID telework. But any accident will clog up the beltway like a gas station toilet. It’s all a shit show of varying degrees but I’d prefer to stay with the shit show I know.

RFK is the only real choice for a stadium. And with a new name and owner it might be an actual viable option. Still a lot of hoops to clear to get there. NOVA is possible but VA never closes. JKC had a shovel party for a stadium he was going to put on the water in Arlington and that fell through. FedEx site is the most likely. Team owns the land and there is talk of building a new stadium closer to whatever metro spot is a couple miles away. PGC is even talking about covering infrastructure again.

My ideal scenario, new stadium at RFK and the team blows up FedEx and builds a new state of the art training facility, fan experience and mixed use at the FedEx site.

I mean VA fans have had the horrible inconvenience of a soul crushing commute FOREVER…..so part of me says, tough, suck it up and deal. We did.

The larger part of me doesn’t want the stadium near me anyway.

It belongs in DC.

Nitpicking the bottom pants. Yellow/Gold, whatever. Either one of those is far better than the abominations they are wearing now.

Candidly, I’d go back to the ones from the 80’s. Period End

If you think Virginia is giving up the training site without a fight, that's the sporting infrastructure you want. A football stadium is occupied maybe 25 times a year, and the public concessions and tax abatements start at 8 figures. I doubt Loudoun County kicked in even 7 figures to attract the facility in Ashburn, and that means 100ish people (players and staffers) live in and pay property taxes to Loudoun. It's the same thing with the Caps in Arlington - the County threw some money at Leonsis, and in return 20-30 Caps figures live in Arlington. Those are the subsidies you want your representatives to dole out.

Wasn't there some talk about putting it in DC near the Nationals stadium, which already has parking and services (food/drink) close by?
Services? Yes. Parking? No. Parking for Nats park was never good, and it’s only gotten worse as lots get developed. I haven’t been to a Nats game since Soto was traded, but my last parking experience there was paying $40 to reserve a space in a lot only for the lot to be full when I got there, shunting me to another lot further away. Without a truly massive investment in infrastructure around there parking for a Commanders game would be an absolute nightmare.

Grew up in Springfield, aside from 4 years in Dumfries have lived in Fairfax or Arlington Counties all of my 45 years.

Keep that stadium as far away as possible.

Sentimentally I'd love the RFK site or another in downtown.

I am curious to know the specifics that went into the $1.5B public funding number. Transportation? Property? How funded, over how many years? Etc.

The earnout may have been used as a mechanism during the negotiations to push the sale price above Snyder’s $6 billion target after Harris’s group was unwilling to bid that much. One person with knowledge of the process said the payout could be as much as approximately $200 million, though the Harris group could end up paying much less. The exact business-related benchmarks on which the amount of the payment are based were not immediately clear. The inexact nature the payment amount also signals that the $6.05 billion sale price might not be fixed.

WFT is cool on paper but was a nightmare for broadcasters. Without a definitive change, they were still saying Redskins a lot of the time or tripping over Football Team because it makes no sense in the context of live commentary. "What the Football Team is trying to do here is..." Which football team? There's 2. No logical nickname to remedy that either.

Same with Commanders. The only natural nickname (Commies) is laughably bad. The mascot and imagery are custerflucks. The fight song sucks. Poor choice all around.

When we talked about this before the change, I always said it didn't really matter to me. But then they chose Commanders and my immediate reaction was, "It honestly didn't matter to me and somehow this club still managed to f*** it up."

So now I'm advocating for Wolves or Red Wolves. No nickname necessary as they'd be called Wolves either way. Imagery and branding would be easy because wolves are cool. A www.ww.com website would be funny. Easy to adapt the original fight song because the meter works perfectly. And we'd have a stadium full of actual DC-area fans howling like mad, which would be awesome.

Agreed. I also like that that burgundy and gold is unique. No one else does that red and the richer gold in the pants isn't at all like the Niners metallic.

Just call them Washington, lean into the sort of classy part of the identity and being football royalty.

Seems like when old storied Premier League teams have nicknames or mascots they still don't really get used much except on scarves and shit so there's a template for how to treat the team for announcers, just have to really spruce up some of the parts Snyder ruined first and scrub some of the stink off the history of the team
