Yes I did, including the part where there is very obviously a "closing hand on the puck" penalty in which the puck is NOT on the ice.

I have no idea why you would have posted that explanation, thinking nobody would notice you were pointing to the wrong part of the rule.

which Krejci did not do.

I have no idea why you would post explanation and video 'examples' of plays that had nothing to do with what krejci did. thinking nobody would notice you were misapplying the wrong part of the rule.

Read 67.1 and tell me it shouldnt have been blown down at the very least.
A player shall be permitted to stop or “bat” a puck in the air with his open hand, or push it along the ice with his hand, and the play shall not be stopped unless, in the opinion of the Referee, he has deliberately directed the puck to a teammate in any zone other than the defending zone, in which case the play shall be stopped and a face-off conducted (see Rule 79 – Hand Pass). Play will not be stopped for any hand pass by players in their own defending zone.

He stopped the puck in the air with his hand. Pushed it along the ice. He has not deliberately directed the puck to a teammate in any zone. What's the issue?

Town NHL hates !
EDIT: Here is the relevant rule, by the way:

DYNmxsDX0AAdTsS.jpg:large

I know there is a lot of fan bias here (me included)...but to me there was no penalty because the time between Krejci ''catching'' the puck and ''knocking it forward'' is indeed immediate as the rule states. Of course the fact the ''catches'' it while in a forward moving motion makes things questionable but there is not enough time for him to penalized for ''closing his hand on the puck''.

I guess it's the same type of play when a defender kicks the puck with his hand out of his zone to force the other team to get out and re-initiate an attack.

The real issue was that Carolina let the bruins back in the game to begin with. Probably should have been a penalty, but it wasn’t called. How many guys get hooked or tripped or shoved that doesn’t get called. It wasn’t egregious, he had the puck and dropped it very quickly. He didn’t really skate with it, it just looks that way because he didn’t break stride

uh..for starters how about literally the next line in the rule book

"A player shall be permitted to catch the puck out of the air but must immediately place it or knock it down to the ice. If he catches it and skates with it, either to avoid a check or to gain a territorial advantage over his opponent, a minor penalty shall be assessed for 'closing his hand on the puck'."

knocking it forward requires an open hand. aka never holding the puck. Krejci caught the puck and threw it forward. that is a completely separate thing.

which again, did not happen.

look at the still images.

right leg up, catches puck, right leg down, puck is released.

he did not skate with it.

if he dropped it instantly, the puck would be at his feet. Also you realize this is hockey and players move without picking their feet up, correct? they are on ice skates. So they can "slide" or "glide" without moving their feet.

Fine, you guys need this play to justify blowing a 4-1 lead late in the 3rd ?

Fine, Krejci did an illegal puck catch+puck throw, gained unfair advantage, Jacobs paid the refs so they closed eyes and goal was scored.

We're sorry the refs f***ed you up last night.
- sincerely, Bruins fans.

Yes, I already responded to that. He caught it and placed it on the ice immediately as the rule requires. He did not skate with it to gain a territorial advantage. It was more of a self-pass. Which is not prohibited in the rules. If you can point to me where it says he cannot hand pass to himself, I will accept that you are correct. As it stands right now, I do not see where the issue is.

if y'all can explain to me how he gets to the blue line when the puck is release if he's not "skating with it" then im all ears but actually pay attention please

as you can very clearly see, his skates are not in the same position. Skated with the puck.

He knocked it straight down and it hit off his leg and went forward. He didn't throw the puck forward.

where's it say 'straight down'?

The rule literally says verbatim: "knock it down to the ice".

Throwing the puck laterally forward is not "knock[ing] it down to the ice", it's throwing it. Those two things are not identical, per the meaning of those words in the English language.

This is somewhere in the realm of failing at basic reading comprehension, having a severe vision impairment, and going full Chewbacca defense.

he was moving forward, caught the puck, threw it down, and everything, including him and the puck kept moving forward.

No.

krejci1.jpg

Puck is exiting his glove while his feet are on the blue line and the puck is maybe ~1 foot over the line.

krejci5.jpg

Puck is still in the air having not yet hit the ice. Not only are Krejci's feet now on the faceoff dot and the puck solidly 10 feet beyond the blue line... but the puck is now ~3 feet FORWARD of Krejci, because he not only did not drop it to the ice but he actually projected it forward with enough force to exceed his own rate of motion.

If this had played out as you're claiming (the puck's motion being equal to Krejci's) then it would not have been possible for the puck to accelerate away from him even as he skated forward.

what you are trying to say is he should have thrown it straight down so that by the time it hit the ice he should have been past the puck.

Yes, because that's the rule. You drop the puck, collect it with your stick or skates, and move forward. You do not throw the puck past a defenseman and then skate around him to get it, because that is specifically against the rules.

what the hell does gliding or sliding have to do with skating?

you do understand that a person in motion, tends to stay in motion, until they stop themselves?

you do understand that if you are in motion, and catch something, that something is now in motion with you?

you do realize what momentum is?

I do realize you leave out the posted still photos showing that he did not skate with the puck.

Yes ...thats fine

You see players doing that all the time

Just catching and throwing the puck to their advantage

If the league/fans want zero discrepency...moving fwd make it that any 'catching' of the puck is an automatic whistle/dead play

But this wont happen

In general I think watch Krejci did was fine/should be allowed. As long as in one motion and the player doesnt glove the puck and is skating with it without dropping it

Its close. It happens alot uncalled.
This one just looks really bad because he changes his skating pattern as he tosses it down.
It reminds me of when Sedin tried doing it to Thomas in the SC Finals and Thomas just blockered him to the face instead.
