I don't think there's any doubt that Lindgren will be traded. Rangers are just hoping to build up his trade value so as not to lose him for nothing -- at least that's the way I see it.
I think his end is like J Fast. We will be in strong playoff contention. Lav won't want to trade him. So he stays and is a cap casualty. Maybe somebody gives us a 5th like we did with Goodrow to get an upper hand at signing him. There are a lot of old school coaches like Lav out there.

The easiest way to win is to pressure our d on the forecheck, between lack of options and their first go to of rimming it up the wall the breakout is atrocious and teams can cycle us to death. Imo it seems like our forwards a lot of times are too close to their d and when they get a pass they are jammed by the d, there's no center cutting to accept a pass in the middle. One issue I notice where the Panarin line gets hemmed in sometimes is the d are reading that our wingers are on off wings and pressure them quick because they have to turn around to make a play. Imo, the breakout is killing this team, I had hoped having Housley would fix this, it hasn't.
The one thing I've noticed is that we never seem to hit a player in stride moving from the zone (or even in center ice). Players are either facing the wrong way and or taking the pass standing still. To top that off, one a player receives a pass, he then looks around to see what his options are -- they never seem to know what they're going to do once they get the pass.

I'm pretty confident this is something fans made up. Players that coaches think help their team win play. It's unfortunate that Lavi thinks Lindgren gives his team the best chance to win but he's not getting played to showcase him. And if he is it's stupid because he's not looking good out there.
Then what was the reason to resign him then...just let the guy walk and be done with it.

this. good offensive teams have a plan, they know their options, in all 3 zones, for breakout, puck transport, and generation in the zone.

we have never had that. i don't understand why not.

Dude, he just got paired with Fox again. Lavi thinks he's good.

For one period when Lavi was trying to shake the team up, sure. If Lindgren hadn't been activated off of IR yet, it would have been somebody else for that period. If the team would have even needed shaking up in that case.

There's just nowhere to hide on Lindgren now. He has been terrible so far, by any measure. I genuinely believe Lavi is the best coach we've had since the late 90s; he has a pretty accurate idea of how his players are performing. There is no way that he is happy with Lindgren's play.

Any other season, Lindgren would have been paired with Fox to start the Sens game, and they'd never be split up again. Lavi knows what's up.

He got paired with him in practice.

Vince tweeted from practice, Lindgren/Fox, Trouba/Miller, Schneider/Jones.

@SnowblindNYR and then I see the skating lines this morning and want to vomit

I still think that what I've said is right, but was hoping we wouldn't have to go through the part of the leash where he got to play with Fox again.
I was afraid of this. We just can't have 2 pairs with the stats that they had last night. You knew Lav was going to switch things up. I, at least, came up with pairs that didn't have the dreaded 23/55, 8/79

Except they had Schneider-Trouba in addition to Miller-Fox before but Lavi needed to have that abortion of a hockey player in the top 4.

Jones in too. What did we have, like 4 shots when the bottom 2 pairs were on the ice? Trying to spread the offense out is my guess with these pairs. Although, obviously, there's better ways.

But if they just put together the top 4 from the first few games and sheltered the bottom pairing like we did when we were winning every game by 3+ we would be much better off than going to the pairs that were f***ing awful last year. That team was awful last year 5 on 5 and our PP is not as good. We're now basically a worse version of last year's team. Our ceiling is not even ECF at this point. Maybe Lavi just wants something that would cover his ass "hey we won the Presidents' Trophy with these pairs". In reality our 5 on 5 play was f***ing awful.

Only thing I can think of is Lav wants Jones in for Mancini and if he kept those top 4 from earlier in the year, he would have a RD pair and a LD pair.
