He's on the fourth line and only playing a few minutes a game so far. And to be honest he's struggling in SHL, often trying to get past defenders on his own resulting in losing the puck and transitions against his team.

It's basically the same when he plays with LHC J20 and he is very much up and down.

That's too bad. Hope he figures it out, he's a fantastic talent.

It's not just him... the entire 4th line seems to be struggling.

The team have an abundance of player at the moment (no injuries amongst the forwards), so the players on the 4th line get to alternate between games. The result is a formation that changes all the time, with players who don't find each other on the ice.

And their low ice time, as a result of all the penalties at the moment, doesn't serve to make it better.

And if we look at it from Vrana's perspective... he doesn't exactly get to play with offensively skilled players (at least not offensively skilled at this level). If there were actually someone to pass the puck to when it's time to gain the offensive zone he wouldn't have to try and do it by himself all the time.

That's too bad. I hope he will figure it out. I would like to see him in TOP 15 at 2014 draft.

I'm surprised to see there has been no activity in this thread in so long.

I thought this kid looked pretty darn good at the World Juniors this year, is he not doing well this year for his club team? I'm guessing his size is probably an issue playing against men right now.

Well, people were expecting a little more from him this season, I guess. I've seen him just at the WJC and looked very good, better capitalizing from him or his teamates and he'd be on everyones radar right now. We'll see how he manages the end of the season but if he slips into the 2nd round, one team will have a steal IMO.

He scored 2+1 with the juniors today. His first goal was an exact copy of his SHL goal yesterday.

Is he getting more ice time?

Yes, he's played regular shifts these past two games compared to being the extra attacker which he's been mostly before. And he's actually been one of the best forwards on the team too. Hope he gets to continue in the same role.

Every time I see Jakub it looks like he has a top 5 package and looks most pro ready out of all eligibles. Then, my immediate next thought is he can easily flop and disappear to Euro leagues as he is a pretty aloof player - not sure about how competitive he is or wants to be.

Another solid effort by Vrána as Linköping tied the quarter final series against Frölunda. He had one assist, was +1, and played 17:26 in the 2-1 victory (game went to 2 OT). He has looked really sharp so far and was able to score a goal in the first quarter final, bringing him up to a total of two points in the first two playoff games.

Where's the love for the guy? He has played well in the U18 tournament overall and really impressed me. He's tactically mature, fast, good with the puck and has a great wrist shot. I have no idea how he's doing in SHL but Linköping is a good place to grow and he's not the first Czech to play there.

Czech players nowadays tend to be a little overlooked and usually flying under the radar, especially when they're not playing in CHL. But that doesn't have to be always a bad thing.

He scores another 2 goals today against Russia, including the OT winner. So far 7 goals in 5 games at the U18 WCH.

Nice to see him come alive. He flashed the talent all year, and showed some of his talent in the WJC. Now, it's on full display and he's been a consistent threat.
