I'd like to see what Rantanen can do if he lines up with Mackinnon or Duchene when he gets called up. On paper it looks promising.

Notice Mikko playing Center in the 3rd period tonight against SJ. Down 1 goal with 2 mins to play, he showed his strength and skill in almost scoring with a power move around the net. Had an assist earlier in the game but was taken away and given to another player.

Fourth-ish game as centre, and just posted a 4 point night (1g - 3a).

Sounds like Avs request Mikko to play centre, but no word if they want to develop him as one in the future or if it's just temporary due to injuries. I don't know where he would be as a centre for the NHL club.

Nice to see him playing very well.

I would use some other word than "well" he has played exceptional. He is first in points rookies and had played more than 10 games less than most. He is second in PPG in whole league if you take players who have played more than 25 games. His +/- is 24 his team second best is +9 and whole team is -9 in goals. Plus lot more and not only stats, his playing, like i said, exceptional and have played whole year. I say he is the best player in the whole league.

He is certainly one of the best players in the league. I can't name anyone who is undoubtedly better than him off the top of my head, though there are probably a handful of players for whom a case could be made. Most notable of these would be Nylander.

I haven't seen Nylander play in the Marlies so I can't make any definite judgment, but purely by looking at their stats I'd give the edge to Rantanen.

I can't see anything he does that won't translate to the NHL. He's a complete player.

Rantanen is now showing he can play Center. A 4 point night last night. Something that I thought was interesting last year prior to the draft. If he can move from wing to Center. The Avs made one heck of a pick here. A player that can be equally as good as a power winger with skill and size or a big strong 2 way center with skill and size.

Anyway you look at it. What a prospect and pick!

Yep, I remember seeing few laughs when it was said Colorado was thinking of moving up for him.

He's so damm impressive, he's a rookie on a new league and can play Lw/C/Rw and it doesn't take any time for him to get used to change.
If he shifts to C full time his value is just going to go up and what a find.

As a side note, I did find it interesting that the leafs inquired about trading down from #4 at the draft, and apparently he was their target.

2nd highest point per game in the AHL as a teenager. 1st is Seth Griffith

Griffith was put back in the draft as a 19 year old when he was not picked as a 18 year old. I am pretty sure he was not a teenager when he posted 50 points in 69 games at Providence.

The posters comment is worded a bit odd. I believe he/she is saying that Rantanen is 2nd in PPG plus he's a teenager which makes that feat even crazier.

By saying "as a teenager" I just mean it to credit Rantanen. The teenager part ended with that sentence lol.

As a leaf fan, watching the world juniors last year and us not being as low in the standing at the time, this was a guy that stood out for me wanting to draft. After that, we tanked and he seemed like a bit of a reach to grab at 4 and I was happy with Marner but this guy has every attribute you need to be successful and not a flaw to him. I could see him jumping lots of guys drafted ahead of him already, and especially in the upcoming years.

He was a perfect pick with the likes of mackinnon, duchene and landeskog in the Colorado system. I never post on here but felt I would pump this guys tires cause he's done nothing but deserve it.
