Nice to see the year but a 20-year-old in the Q dominating has limited meaning. If he sticks in the AHL and has a decent year, that will have a lot more meaning. And he might. I really look for skating and hockey smarts as guys level up. The game gets faster as you go pro and hockey smarts are just hard to teach

So all junior players having dominating years among their peers have little meaning? Komarov isn’t even in his last year of eligibility and as a 5th round pick he’s having a better season than most guys drafted higher.

League Woebegone, where all prospects lead Q defensemen in scoring

With seven points (three goals) in two games, Vsevolod Komarov (BUF) earned QMJHL honours. On March 1 he had four points (1G, 3A) as the Volts beat Charlottetown 8-2 while two days later he had three more points (2G, 1A) in a 5-3 loss to Sherbrooke. The owner of the game-winning goal in the 2023 Memorial Cup for Quebec, the Volts d-man has 43 points (10 goals) in 30 games since he was acquired in early December. Komarov’s combined 62 points this year are a new career high.

Sounds like he's done for the entire playoff run.

Yes. He flew to Arizona last week for tests and they decided he should have a shoulder surgery. He’s going back there next week to have the surgery.

Tough year for QMJHL top defensemen. Tristan Luneau, Maveric Lamoureux and Dyllan Gill are all done for the year. Emile Chouinard shouldn’t be back because of cancer treatments. Jake Furlong and Jeremy Langlois are also reportedly going to be out for a long time.

Another assist, this time on the PP. No video clips - the Q twitter feed seems to be stuck on yesterday and the Volts aren't posting any clips.

One of the Sea Dogs just patted him on the head after a goal against Drummondville.

Appreciate the updates. Looking forward to eventual QMJHL/CHL playoff clips. I know nothing other than what is online, etc., but like his size on paper. Does he use it to box out / ride guys to the boards on dump-ins, etc.

Yeah, he uses his size to lean on people and win territory. He's not a killer, but he's efficient.
