Did Olli even make the trip?

There is no equipment hanging in Mastta's locker-room stall.

He hasn't looked quite right since he came back. Hopefully it's just some tinkering with the thyroid meds.

We're not even 1/3rd of the way through the season and > 1/3 of our lineup is on the IR. Makes sense.

If this is another lower body injury they really, really need to fix the CEC ice. They need to fix it anyway, but come on already.

Imagine our roster if Crosby/Malkin were injured aswell. Goc would be our 2C, and Sutter top line C.

We're playing with disaster right now. Something like,

Spaling - Malkin/Crosby - Comeau
Klinkhammer - Sutter - Megna
Rust - Goc - Downie
Sill - Ebbett - Adams

Or maybe Sutter finds his way to the top line. If they both go down, idk. Come on over, Sundqvist?

How is that lump on Sid's neck looking, anyway?

Tough news for this coaching staff. Playing Maatta 24 minutes against the Sens tells you all you need to know of what they think of Maatta. More ice time for Despres isn't a good thing.;)

Maatta out is just sad. Our team has to be cursed.

Man I wasn't lying. In 09 I was praying to alllll the hockey gods to win the Cup. I said things like "I don't care if we never win one again.. please just please let it be the year!" And then I think I said... "Even if we are dismantled by injuries... just let this be the year!"

I accept full responsibility, but I know you guys were praying on that final faceoff in 09, too.

His meds will take awhile to get adjusted. It just isn't the same without a thyroid. Hopefully they get him on armour and not synthroid..but probably not.

529 Man Games Lost in 13/14
133 Man Games Lost in 12/13
355 Man Games Lost in 11/12
348 Man Games Lost in 10/11
182 Man Games Lost in 09/10

That is as far as records go back but that is on average 309 Man Games Lost per season.

I'd like to see a figure that meaningfully represents the calibre of players lost by injury, too. I've seen "salary lost," but that figure is a little flawed as star players are not always paid star money (and vice versa).

It's a great excuse to get Brian Dumoulin into the game, that's for sure. He needs some ice time. What if he continues to play a strong, safe game?

That's the only bright side to Maatta's injury.

True. Going by MGL per Game;

6.45 MGL/Game in 13/14
2.77 MGL/Game in 12/13
4.32 MGL/Game in 11/12
4.24 MGL/Game in 10/11
2.21 MGL/Game in 09/10

Jeez, there honestly can't be a team even close to that. Even Detroit, as bad as it got there last year, couldn't' be close.

On the bright(?) side...guess the player:

0 MGL in 13/14
0 MGL in 12/13
0 MGL in 11/12
2 MGL in 10/11
0 MGL in 09/10

Clearly the answer is a discounted discount Tony Stark even though he's clearly Wolverine. I'm going to guess Adams and then I'm going to cry because it can only be him.

A wild guess: M.A. Fleury?

Just browsing through, was wondering why Määttä didn't play.

No idea about Maatta. I think one of the Pittsburgh reporters tweeted that he got injured in the last game and was being evaluated in Pittsburgh but after his thyroid who knows.

There is probably not another Penguins player besides the goalies who had more than two seasons without injuries in these last few years. Other teams have Suter, Kessel, Bouwmeester as ironmans - the Penguins have Adams.
