If they can’t find a taker for him in the next 10 days is it possible they expose him to Seattle?

I think Pietro felt disrespected that the Blues played hard ball with him, a guy that was underpaid for the duration of his Blues career and their team captain.

The fact that they traded for Faulk and signed him to a 6.5M/yr, 45.5M contract without Faulk having played a single game for them...I know I would feel slighted and underappreciated. Like I just won you this cup and you're not willing to take care of me and my family?

I know this is a contentious point among Blues fans, some look at Pietro as a selfish player, a judas or something, but from an outsider pov, it seems to me like the relationship couldn't be repaired because of that disrespect.

You hit the nail on the head. This is in my mind what happened, Other Blues fans will tell me how out to lunch I am.

Having what's required to sign elite players to UFA contracts (NMC and bonus money) as your line in the sand is just tremendously stupid. Most Blues fans don't have much ill will towards him, but also we have a few annoying people in our board who bring it up every thread, so the takes have gotten more reactionary as time has gone on.

Kuznetsov for Tarasenko straight up from Washington. Two struggling Russian stars with championship experience in great need of a change.

Ovechkin is aging and Washington needs a secondary scoring threat from the right wing. Orlov is one of Tarasenko’s best friends as well, it makes perfect sense for Washington.

The Blues can get a center with game breaking skill and potential behind ROR with no injury concerns. They just need to straighten him out but he could add a lot to the Blues at center.
I’d do that.

What about Evander Kane ( 4 x 7mil) for Tarasenko (2x7.5mil) straight up? Kane has baggage no doubt but still puts up great numbers. Tarasenko has two years less on his deal but has barely played the past two seasons and May have some baggage of his own. Thoughts?

You would think..... but I think Seattle looks the other way.
No need to bury cap space on a guy who has not been healthy in a very long time.
Either St. Louis retains to move him or they pay someone to take him.
That’s my prediction

Really interested to see what his value might be

I feel like there are a WIDE range of possibilities
Well yeah, either a team trades full value for him like he has been healthy for the past two seasons or they are only willing to give up mostly futures because he hasn't. Of course it'll probably be somewhere between but I doubt they get anywhere near full value given he's owed 9.5 million dollars in salary next year and doesn't exactly have a cheap cap hit either, and now that he has requested a trade it doesn't help either.

I didn't think he would get full value till trade deadline but looks like we won't get there now.

I don't think they pay anyone to move him. I'm a devils fan and have been outspoken that his acquisition doesn't really make a ton of sense for them unless the cost was super low, but I would still actually give up something for him.

Obviously if they retain his value increases, but I don't think it's necessary. As I said before, just about everyone has a guy making a couple million more than they should be that they'd be fine sending back to ease the cap coming in

I could see army retaining up to 2.5 depending on. The return

What is his value? What are Blues fans expecting

I think he'd be a great target for both CGY and EDM. For Toronto, we have no cap really so he's not someone we can pursue, unless Dubas was looking at a Marner for Tarasenko ++ type deal, though reports don't seem to paint this picture

I think a 1st in this draft from 12th-20th range and a B prospect is a good deal with perhaps a cap piece coming back to make the cap hits manageable

CGY should offer Lucic @ 5.25M, 12th pick in the 2021 draft, and Emilo Petterson for Tarasenko at 7.5M
EDM should offer James [email protected], 19th pick in the 2021 draft, and Dmitri Samorukov for Tarasenko at 7.5M

FWIW since the Isles are mentioned, they could definitely make a deal work without retention. It might require St. Louis taking on a crappy contract though.

One thing to keep in mind is Armstrong has never retained salary so it’s unlikely.

Yeah that absolutely will not happen. Blues are still a playoff team. Army is not going to gift a player of tarasenkos caliber then take a crap Contract retracing thier ability to spend up to the cap with quality players.
