Anyone notice the shot at kravtsov Quinn took in his post game last night?
I did. He really tore into him without ever mentioning his name.

He was commenting how players sent down, should not cry and pout but work on their game like Chytil did. And how they have such an awesome staff down there. (In the how can you possibly blame them vain)

I don't know. This has potential to get really ugly. I wouldn't go out publicly antagonizing one of your top picks from two years ago out in the open in the media like that. I was one of the first to express concern about Kravtsov's response of taking his ball and going home at the first hint of adversity, but I think he's being done dirty here.

I know I'm probably in the minority with this, but I think that's unprofessional of Quinn. Kravtsov got the message that he wasn't cutting it when he was still in Hartford. Don't pour gas on the fire.

If Quinn really did intend this barb be directed at Kravtsov, it would lead me to believe that the organization wasn't fully on board with him leaving and might have preferred he stick it out, only to be publicly supportive after the fact to avoid any type of mess. That's speculative, but it makes sense. If everyone was on board with Kravtsov going home, why would Quinn feel the need to take a shot? Wouldn't really make sense.

Although, it's also possible that it was an innocent comment, just commending Chytil in particular and also Lindgren who almost made the team out of camp. They have to send down other young guys in the future, and Quinn could just be publicly stating his expectations for how guys handle themselves when they receive the "demotion". Personally, I think the "shot at Kravtsov" is more likely, but who knows.

If it was really directed at Kravtsov, while I approve of the general message, hopefully this stops here. Don't want to keep poking at the bees nest. That doesn't end well.

Ehhhh I dunno. This is a mans game even if some of these guys are teens still. No one is handing you a HUGE payday or for that matter the Stanley Cup.

U want that stuff? U better learn how to go out & take it and not expect to be handed anything just because you think you’re special. The real world just doesn’t work that way. Certainly not in pro sports.

From Carpy talking about Chytil and Lindgren-

“These guys went down there and did what they had to do,” Quinn said. “They embraced the challenge of going down. Obviously, they were disappointed when it happened, but they didn’t sulk about it. They went down there and got better, and we certainly reaped the benefits of that tonight.”

To me this might be Quinn's personal view (though potentially shared with others) and I don't think there was a team message that was delivered by Quinn that needed to be agreed upon universally within the organization.

I mean, I can see how Kravtsov’s camp might take it as a shot, but by the same token, how does Quinn praise Chytil and Lindgren without providing potential ammo for that narrative?

Right?

Frankly, if Kravtsov does take offense at that, he would have to to re-consider whether he could handle hockey at the highest level. That's as benign as it would get, frankly.

Sincerely hope that he/his camp don't complain about that. It's a great motivational tool for guys like Chytil/Lindgren and the absolute truth as well.

I think that comment is more for the entire organization. It's possible that Andersson or Howden could be next. The example has been set that if you go down there and work hard, you will be recalled. I don't see it as a shot at Kravtsov

Honestly if Kravstov can't handle this type of heat into the future (as a result of his own actions mind you) then he isn't cut out to be a professional player in NA and especially not in the New York market.

He is an exciting prospect and is still very young, but I wouldn't be one for protecting a player unnecessarily because getting into that habit will only hurt him and the team in the end if he is strung along and wasting the Rangers time.

They tested Chytil and Lindgren and they responded. Kravstov didn't get what he thought he earned and bolted home. I'm not sure if Quinn's comments were an aimed jab at him, but if they were then good for him for the way he said it.

I mean if there was no Kravtsov's situation, Quinn could have delivered exactly the same message and noone would read anything "extra" in it.

I don't disagree with any of you. That being said, Kravtsov's actions have demonstrated that he at the very least takes criticism to the heart and can see how he would take that as a pot shot.

Yes I’d take it more as an organizational message from Quinn but very real Bratsov did not do what these guys did so unfortunately this does apply to him as it should but I think yes it should apply to anyone that gets sent down or is already down in Hartford.

My guess remains that this was more a personal issue for an 18 year old not yet ready to be half a world away from his home with no support system in place. Barring any new news to the contrary, I look forward to Vitali and the NYR being much better prepared to deal with his next go-round in NA.

Such a reasoned response. What the hell is wrong with you?

Watching that game last night, I just kept thinking about Kravstov. If he could have stuck it out, maybe he could of had a similar impact if he had stayed put. You can't really fault a 19 year kid for missing home but it seems like he could have had a chance to do something like the youngsters did last night.

Don’t forget the age difference, though. Every year at that age makes an enormous difference.

Telling you right now he’s going to go out there and realize this league sucks (in comparison to what he now has experienced over here). He’s going to be dying to get back here. It’s going to feel like a major step back. I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually struggles over there.
