In his last season in the KHL with St. Petersburg, Andrei Kuzmenko had 20 goals and 33 assists. And the Canucks got at least good season out of him after he signed.

Kravtsov's KHL numbers are far better--so I suppose anything is possible.

How long do we hold his rights?

I remember him as one of the softest players to ever wear the orca, so unless he's evolved his mentality significantly, I can't imagine he'll fit into Tocchet's system. Maybe we can trade his rights to a team with more Russians in their core group?

Although it was only a brief appearance at the end of another lackluster season in 2022-23, I don't recall Kravtsov being a 'soft' player at all. In fact he was pretty physical down low in the offensive zone and along the wall.

The problem at times was his defensive awareness, and the fact that offensively his confidence was complete shot. But I suppose that would be understandable given his deployment or lack of it in New York.

Said it before, but bears repeating. If the Canucks were willing to roll the dice with guys like Heinen and Sprong, how much of a 'risk' would it be bringing back Kravtsov?

We own his right as long as give him a new contract for the next 2 years.

Problem is he can't really play that well in the NHL. Reminder that Josh Leivo leads the KHL in scoring and Sheldon Rempal is ahead of Kravtsov. He's just not that good.
Both are much older though. Leivo turns 32 soon and Rempal turns 30. Kravtsov did turn 25 just this past December.

With his 3 points, he has 58 points now in 66 games and is now 5th in all time points for 24/25 year olds in KHL history, which is impressive. Radulov, Gusev, Kovar, and Shabanov are higher.

I think he deserves to be in some discussions at the very least about bringing him over for another shot. I probably wouldn’t have said this last year.

I think he definitely deserves a look in the NHL.
Fair enough. I see it as he's playing in a league that suits his style of play much better. He almost certainly wouldn't fit on a Tocchet team. Possibly get a better chance with another team.

At one time, Allvin actually believed that Sprong and Kuzmenko could not only 'survive' but maybe even 'thrive' under Rick Tocchet.

So with Kravtsov--it's still the GM's call.

I mean we can give him like a 1X1 and see how he does in camp. He'll most likely bounce if he doesn't make it out of camp and then so what.

What? If Allvin actually thought that, he is a fool. Anyone could see that a player like Kuz would not work under a Tocchet.

Tocchet wants every player to be a 200ft player. Unfortunately that's just not the case with every player, especially highly skilled Russians.

If Kravtsov is smart, he can wait for a coaching change with a more offensive minded coach to come in first.

I think the main Kravtsov's problem was he's a kinda spoiled brat from a rich family. And his family is rich... at least by Russian standarts because poor or even average Russian families can't send their kids to NA univercities. Now he's become mature and started to play hockey to his talent level which always has been there. At least there is hope for this.

Sprong signed at like min wage, there was no risk with that player.

Well after his 39 goal season, it was Allvin who signed him to a two-year extension at $5m a season. Then less than half way through the season last year, he was dumped on the Flames as part of the Zadorov trade.

So maybe 'anyone' on these Boards could see that Kuzmenko and Tocchet would never co-exist......but the GM still gifted him a two year deal. And you'd have to assume that Allvin at least talked to Tocchet, before he re-upped him.

He becomes an UFA in 27-28.

As far as salary goes I posted this elsewhere::

As far as next year goes, Kravtsov can be had for free, as far as assets go. He is having a great year. I would seriously consider finding out whatever his salary is, and doubling it. But no less than $1.5M and no more that $2.5M. One yr show me contract.

Edit - found this on the internet.

Kravtsov signed 2 year 40 million ruble base salary contract...at today's exchange rate that is $500k USD per season.Plus substantial bonuses he’ll be making closer to $1 million.

So by this reasoning we would have to offer him close to $2.5 because I am sure he is due for a raise.

Edit 2 - from what I can tell the Ruble has devalued about 20% since this was signed ... so maybe a little less would bring him across.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Allvin signed Danton Heinen to a two-year, $2.5m per season contract this past off-season.

And by some minor miracle, managed to off-load the second year of that contract on the Pens, who desperately wanted another first round draft pick.

So if Allvin really believed Heinen was worth that kind of a contract--then surely Kravtsov and his agent can at least expect something similar.

Hey now, everyone here loved Heinen right up until they didn't.

Still no f***ing clue why you sign that guy when we already had Hoglander.

The KHL regular season has ended, Kravtsov finished 6th in the league scoring, would've been 5th but Traktor held out their top players to end the season. Kravtsov finishes the season with a Traktor all-time record breaking stat line of 66GP 27G 31A 58PTS. For those who do not follow the KHL keep in mind it is a significantly lower scoring league than the NHL.

Traktor Chelyabinsk finishes 1st in the East, 2nd in the league. They will face Admiral Vladivostok (Vitali's hometown funny enough) in the first round of the playoffs starting Thursday at 7AM PST

That's weird since he finished 2nd on his team in scoring.

Kravtsov hasn't earned a $2M or $2.5M contract though. $1.5M I can live with. But we've been signing guys like Hoglander and Pods to $1M to $1.2M AAV 2 year bridge contracts when they were at least as accomplished in the NHL as Kravtsov.

Rick Dhaliwal has weighed in. He says that there's almost 'zero chance' the Canucks re-sign Kravtsov. It's more likely that his rights are traded for something of value.

If the Canucks were awash with 20-goal scorers, I'd understand it. But for a team as 'goal-starved' as this one, if they could get him on a 'team-friendly' contract, it would be 'no-risk' potentially 'high-reward"

If it didn't work out, they could either bury the contract in the minors, or let him flee back to the KHL again.

Could be as simple as Kravtsov not wanting to play here.

Are you referring to Rick Dhaliwals comments over a month ago? It didn't sound all that definitive, he also sounded absolutely clueless about anything to do with the KHL. He remarked that he's not doing that well because "he's not even a point per game in the KHL". There are 3 players in the entire league who were a point per game this season, compared to nearly 40 in the NHL.

He said this recently ?
